Job description

The AVP, AI Security Tooling and Engineering will lead the strategic development, implementation, and enhancement of AI-driven security tools and engineering solutions to protect LPL Financial's assets and data. This role is crucial for integrating advanced AI capabilities into our cybersecurity infrastructure, ensuring robust and proactive defense mechanisms., * Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML-based security tools and platforms for threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and security automation.

  • Architect and implement scalable and resilient security engineering solutions, leveraging cloud-native technologies and modern DevOps practices.
  • Drive the evaluation, selection, and integration of third-party AI security products and technologies to complement internal capabilities.
  • Manage and mentor a team of security engineers and AI specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with Security Operations, Incident Response, and other IT teams to understand their needs and deliver effective security solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical roadmaps for AI security tooling, aligning with LPL Financial's overall security strategy and business objectives.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of security engineering projects, from requirements gathering and design to testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for secure coding, infrastructure as code (IaC), and secure development lifecycles (SDLC) within the engineering team.
  • Stay abreast of emerging AI technologies, cybersecurity threats, and industry best practices to continually evolve LPL Financial's security posture.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, analyses, and recommendations to senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior engineering role focused on security engineering or AI security.
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML-driven security solutions (e.g., anomaly detection, predictive analytics, natural language processing for security).
  • Strong expertise in cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and experience with cloud-native security tools and services.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C++.
  • Extensive experience with security tools and technologies (SIEM, SOAR, EDR, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) and regulatory requirements (e.g., FINRA, SEC).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical teams, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, AWS/Azure Security certifications) are a plus.
