Job description

A leading, global electronics manufacturer is seeking an experienced and strategic IT and IS Manager to oversee and elevate our North American technology infrastructure. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the review, design, implementation, and management of all Information Technologies across the organization.

Serving as the primary technical liaison to our global headquarters in Japan, you will lead our IT and IS environments, ensuring they are optimized for cost, security, performance, and stability.

Job Highlights

  • Global Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison to our global HQ in Japan on worldwide network upgrades and security policies.
  • Comprehensive Ownership: Manage end-to-end IT/IS functions, from infrastructure architecture (Cisco/VMware) to enterprise ERP applications and cybersecurity.
  • Leadership & Strategy: Oversee internal staff, outsourced vendors, and lead the ISMS/ISO 27001 compliance steering committee.
  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary of $100,000 - $140,000/year (Eligible for a sign-on bonus).

Essential Job Functions1. IT Asset & Lifecycle Management

  • Manage all IT infrastructure assets including hardware, software, enterprise licensing, and company mobile devices.
  • Maintain comprehensive asset inventories, oversee computer setup/distribution, and govern network access authentication (Active Directory/Unified Communications).
  1. Infrastructure & System Configuration
  • Design, implement, and manage network architecture (data, voice, video) and datacenter landscapes (servers, storage, virtualization).
  • Optimize enterprise systems (SAP/CRM/MRP) performance by monitoring, evaluating, and managing master data/programs.
  • Manage third-party IT support contracts and act as the primary liaison for vendors.
  1. Information Security & Compliance
  • Oversee data protection, archiving, endpoint encryption, and disaster recovery (DR) procedures.
  • Serve as the lead for ISMS Management Review Meetings and ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 27001 standards.
  • Govern international access requests to the global corporate headquarters.
  1. Training & Team Leadership
  • Direct, coach, and evaluate internal IT/IS staff and oversee on-site vendor technicians.
  • Manage and measure Help Desk performance.
  • Utilize automated platforms (e.g., KnowBe4) to deliver annual IT security, phishing, and ISMS training to end-users.
  1. Budgeting & Financial Planning
  • Develop and forecast IT/IS operating expenses (OpEx) and capital expense (CapEx) plans for fixed and non-fixed assets, regularly reporting to senior management.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience managing complex computer environments. Extensive background in a manufacturing or global corporate environment is highly preferred.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in interviewing, hiring, training, and appraising IT staff performance.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Networking & Voice: Strong knowledge of voice/data services (fiber, wireless WAN, PRI), and Cisco technologies (ASA security appliances, routers, switches, VPN, Call Manager, Webex, UCS).
  • Systems & Virtualization: Robust experience with Microsoft technologies (Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, Dynamics CRM, SQL, Windows Server) and VMware (ESXi, vCenter).
  • Protocols: Proficient with TCP/IP protocols/services (DNS, DHCP, SMTP, BGP, OSPF, IPSEC, etc.).
  • Security Standards: Deep understanding of ISMS and ISO 27001 certification and risk assessment alignment.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-border teams (Japan HQ)., * IT management: 7 years (Required)
