Job description
This is a focused individual contributor role designed for a senior engineer who wants to stay close to the code, the data, the logs, and the real business problems behind them. Working directly alongside our operations lead, you will take full ownership of designing, writing, debugging, and improving the backend systems, data pipelines, integrations, and reporting infrastructure that power our internal business intelligence tools and operational dashboards. Your time will be dedicated to writing, testing, deploying, and maintaining working software.
What You Will Do
Business-Rule Engineering: Translate complex operational and financial logic (such as revenue attribution, multi-tier revenue splitting, invoice-state transitions, and accrual calculations) into explicit, testable backend code rules to guarantee accurate reporting views.
Data Auditing & Financial Reconciliation: Program automated data validation models that systematically audit live database transactions against master accounting reference ledgers, ensuring system reports balance correctly down to the penny.
Backend & Integration Development: Build, secure, and maintain high-availability data-intake paths (RESTful APIs and webhook receivers) linking proprietary and third-party platform endpoints. Implement caching and data-deduplication logic to handle heavy transaction loads without data drops.
Database Engineering & Performance Tuning: Design, optimize, and manage complex database schemas. Establish smart indexing strategies and troubleshoot bottlenecks to keep live dashboard screens running predictably.
Logging, Telemetry, & Production Support: Build strict error-catching layers and structured logging to ensure systems fail visibly and recover safely. Diagnose production issues using logs, telemetry, and source-system evidence.
Requirements
C# & Modern .NET: Advanced professional experience with C# (.NET 8+), ASP.NET Core Web APIs, dependency injection, asynchronous programming, and Entity Framework Core (or comparable data-access tech).
SQL Server & Relational Data: Deep mastery of Microsoft SQL Server / Azure SQL Database. Ability to write complex T-SQL (window functions, CTEs, complex joins), read query execution plans, design normalized schemas, and evaluate indexing strategies.
Python Data Manipulation: Advanced proficiency using Python alongside data frameworks (Pandas, NumPy) and spreadsheet parsing libraries (OpenPyXL) to ingest, audit, and transform inconsistent, raw data matrices (JSON, CSV, multi-layered spreadsheets) into structured database inputs.
Azure Ecosystem: Effective deployment and troubleshooting experience across Azure App Service, Azure Functions (serverless triggers), Azure Service Bus/Queue Storage, and Application Insights.
Engineering Approach We Value
Correctness comes before presentation; debuggability comes before cleverness. Business rules should be explicit, not hidden in scattered conditionals. Logging and exception handling are part of the core design, not cleanup work. Architecture should solve current pressures without inventing speculative abstractions. Code and work must be done with scalability in mind, so that it does not become obsolete in a short period of time.
The Profile We Are Looking For
Comfortable taking an unclear operational problem, learning how the business actually functions, and turning that knowledge into reliable software. Able to move fluidly between application code, SQL, APIs, logs, and cloud services. Persistent when data doesn't reconcile, and willing to challenge incorrect assumptions with evidence.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with financial or accounting-data reconciliation.
Exposure to modern frontend frameworks (e.g., Angular).
Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines.
