Transform technology into opportunity as a Senior VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Lead at GDIT. You will serve as the subject matter expert for our private cloud infrastructure, shaping what's next for mission-critical government projects on the CITS contract while advancing your engineering career., * As a Senior VCF Lead, your work will be highly impactful to the mission of USCENTCOM. You will play a crucial role in leading the design, architecture, and management of the VMware Cloud Foundation platform, ensuring a robust, automated, and secure private cloud for enterprise solutions.
- Lead / Manage / Support: Serve as the primary technical lead for the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) platform. You will oversee its full lifecycle, from architectural design and automated deployment to ongoing maintenance, capacity planning, and providing Tier 3 support for an enterprise environment supporting over 5,000 users.
- Collaborate with: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including public cloud engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and government stakeholders, to implement and integrate a secure and resilient hybrid cloud environment.
- Drive: Drive the evolution of the private cloud, lead architectural innovation on the VCF platform, and champion the automation of virtual infrastructure management to enhance performance and security.
- Utilize: Act as the expert for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) by Broadcom, integrating it with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) to create a seamless hybrid cloud. Employ Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and advanced scripting to automate and secure the virtual environment.
- As a Senior Cloud Engineering Task Lead, your work at GDIT will be highly impactful to the mission of USCENTCOM on the CITS contract. You will play a crucial role in leading a team of cloud engineers to design, architect, deploy, and maintain robust, automated, and secure enterprise cloud solutions., * VMware Cloud Foundation: Expert-level, hands-on experience deploying, managing, and maintaining VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) by Broadcom environments, including SDDC Manager, vSphere, vSAN, and NSX.
Requirements
- Required Qualifications : Bring your deep technical expertise in VMware technologies and a drive for innovation to GDIT. The ideal candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Education : Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Science in a relevant technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience ; 5+ years of related experience in systems administration and engineering, with a strong focus on VMware environments.
- Certifications : Active DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II or III compliant certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CISSP).
- Security Clearance : Active TS/SCI
- Citizenship : US citizenship required.
- Travel & Leadership : Proven experience serving as a technical lead or senior engineer. Willingness to support USCENTCOM exercises, with potential for up to 10% travel to OCONUS locations., * Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong proficiency in IaC with tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for automating VMware infrastructure.
- Automation Scripting: Advanced scripting skills for automation (e.g., PowerShell/PowerCLI, Python).
- Hybrid Cloud Architecture: Experience in designing and integrating private cloud infrastructure with public cloud providers (AWS and/or Azure).
- DevSecOps & CI/CD: Demonstrated experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices in a virtualized environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Certifications: VMware Certified Professional/Advanced Professional (VCP/VCAP), especially in Data Center Virtualization (DCV) or Network Virtualization (NV). AWS or Azure architect certifications are a plus.
- DoD Cloud Compliance: Strong understanding of the DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (CC-SRG) and experience with STIGs for VMware products.
- Advanced Technologies: Practical experience with container orchestration on VMware platforms (e.g., vSphere with Tanzu, Kubernetes) and advanced NSX features.
- Mission Experience: Prior experience supporting USCENTCOM HQ, major combatant commands (COCOMs), or specialized tactical military networks.
- Methodologies: Experience working within ITIL-aligned IT service management frameworks (ITIL v4 Foundation or higher preferred)., 5 + years of related experience

Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
