The architect leads technical implementation of solutions and delivery.
- This role is intended for a candidate who operates beyond a project-focused solution architect, contributing to roadmaps, cross-domain integration decisions, and landscape health. The architect balances best-fit solutioning and delivery execution with broader technology risk management and application landscape alignment., · Develop high-level and detailed architecture and technical designs to satisfy business outcomes and non-functional requirements (availability, performance, resiliency, maintainability).
· Lead and coordinate end-to-end technical implementation, including application, integration, data, security, and infrastructure considerations.
· Ensure delivered solutions are operationally supportable and assimilated into production support models with limited risk.
· Drive continuous improvement and innovation through design enhancements, modernization, and technical debt reduction.
· Review and approve project designs for compliance with architecture standards, and track/manage exceptions as needed.
· Assess, report, and recommend mitigations for technology, integration, and operational risks within the SAP domain and adjacent platforms.
· Ensure regulatory, audit, and security compliance for new and existing solutions.
· Contribute to and evolve architecture patterns and standards (integration patterns, security patterns, data patterns, environment strategy, and operational readiness criteria).
· Translate solution intent into integrated designs across SAP, integration middleware, data platforms, identity/security, and external systems.
· Partner cross-functionally with product owners, engineering leads, security, infrastructure, and operations to ensure solutions align with enterprise direction and constraints.
· Work with vendors and system integrators for service delivery, solution quality, and evaluation of technology options.
· Contribute to domain roadmaps and input into broader technology roadmaps, ensuring SAP solutions align with architectural direction and IT strategy.
· Help improve overall application landscape health by identifying redundancies, integration risks, and modernization opportunities within the SAP ecosystem.
Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience.
· 8+ years of IT experience in a large, complex environment (nationally or globally distributed preferred).
· Extensive solution and enterprise architecture experience is mandatory
· Extensive experience in solutioning and implementing large scale systems is mandatory
· SAP and BTP experience are mandatory
· Migrations from ECC to S4/HANA UN is a huge plus
· 8+ years of solution architecture experience leading end-to-end solution design and delivery across application, integration, data, and security concerns.
· 6+ years of SAP architecture / SAP solution delivery experience, with demonstrated responsibility for solution integrity across multiple workstreams (implementation, integration, security, data, operations).
· Architecture experience supporting SAP-centric business capabilities such as Plant Maintenance / Work Management / Asset Management, and related processes.
· Experience with SAP integrations and patterns (e.g., APIs, events, batch/file, middleware-enabled integrations) and cross-platform coordination.
· Exposure to SAP platform modernization approaches (e.g., ECC-to-S/4 transition planning, integration modernization).
· Experience operating in architecture governance forums (e.g., architecture review boards), managing standards compliance and exception processes.
· Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and practices (e.g., TOGAF), and ability to use them pragmatically to guide decisions.
· Ability to assess and improve application landscape health (identify redundancies, integration risks, and cost/risk reduction opportunities).
· Experience in Energy / Utilities or similarly regulated, asset-intensive industries.
· Demonstrated experience delivering solutions through the full SDLC (requirements, design, build, test, deployment, operational readiness).
· Strong working knowledge across core architecture domains: software, data, integration, infrastructure/hosting models, and security.
· Proven ability to lead technical direction on large-scale programs/projects, influence across teams, and drive architectural decisions to closure.
· Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and stakeholder communication skills across varying organizational levels.
