Job description
We are looking for a Senior Power BI/ SQL Developer to join our Business Intelligence team. This role is responsible for building and maintaining Power BI dashboards backed by SQL-based reporting views, with hands -on involvement in our ongoing migration of the data platform to Snowflake., * Design, build, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, semantic data models, and underlying schema that track operational performance, highlight trends, and support decision-making.
- Work closely with teams to understand reporting needs, connect, and transform data from multiple sources, and ensure accuracy and timeliness of reports.
- Set up permissions so users only see the data they are authorized to view, maintain version control, and perform regular data quality checks.
- Support migration of existing SQL views and procedures to snowflake.
- Handle ad-hoc reporting requests from business teams within agreed turnaround times.
- Perform manual data validation in Excel (pivot tables, lookups) to ensure report accuracy.
- This role will be a subject matter expert on Power BI and Excel (Snowflake is a plus), responsible for making sure data is accurate, accessible, and actionable., * Partner with operations and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI data models that support day-to-day operational decision-making.
- Create automated refresh schedules and data pipelines to ensure timely reporting.
- Build intuitive, interactive visualizations that highlight KPI trends, and variances for quick insight.
- Implement and maintain governance measures, including row-level security, version control, and data quality checks.
- Serve as the go-to resource for Power BI troubleshooting, performance tuning, and best practice guidance.
- Document data sources, logic, and report usage guidelines for consistency and knowledge sharing.
- Provide training and support to end users to maximize self-service analytics adoption.
- Apply data modelling best practices (star schema, relationships) for efficient report performance.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience building KPI-driven dashboards for operational performance monitoring.
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI Desktop and Service, including DAX and Power Query (M) for custom transformations.
- Advanced modelling techniques like calculated columns, measures, and DAX expressions.
- Strong SQL and/or Python skills for querying and shaping data from a large variety of sources (e.g., SQL Server, Excel, Foundry, Snowflake).
- Demonstrated strong understanding of underlying data and its business purposes.
- Maintain documentation for data sources, business logic, and report definitions.
- Mix of project-based and ongoing reporting responsibilities., * Strong SQL: joins, group by views, stored procedures
- Power BI: DAX & Power Query
- Working knowledge of Snowflake, or ability to ramp up quickly; knowledge of Python is good to have
- Advanced Excel skills for data validation.
- Experienced with Jira
- Understanding of data modelling concepts and report performance optimization
- Good Communication skills to work directly with business stakeholders.
