Job description
CGI is seeking an experienced Python AWS Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend applications on AWS. The role requires strong skills in Python, REST API development, SQL, and core AWS services (Lambda, S3, SQS, DynamoDB), with hands-on experience supporting workloads on EC2 and EKS. Experience with Java and ReactJS is a plus but not required., Design, develop, and maintain Python applications using OOP, clean code, and unit testing best practices. Build and integrate RESTful APIs using FastAPI and/or Flask. Develop serverless and event-driven solutions using AWS Lambda, S3, SQS, and DynamoDB. Automate AWS operations using Boto3 and support cloud resource management. Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot applications on Amazon EKS and Amazon EC2 (Linux, logs, networking, scaling). Design and optimize SQL queries; work on schema design, indexing, and performance tuning. Implement logging, monitoring, security, and performance improvements (CloudWatch, IAM least privilege, secrets handling). Collaborate with product, data, and cloud teams; participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
Requirements
68 years of software development experience with strong Python backend development. Proven experience building REST APIs (FastAPI/Flask). Strong SQL skills: complex queries, joins, stored procedures (as applicable), optimization, and performance tuning.
Hands-on AWS experience with: Lambda, S3, SQS, DynamoDB EC2 and EKS (deployments, services, ingress, config/secrets, troubleshooting) Boto3, IAM, CloudWatch Experience with CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar) and container registries. Strong problem-solving, debugging, and production support skills.
Preferred qualifications (good-to-have) Experience with Java (Spring Boot or similar). Exposure to ReactJS for API integration and UI collaboration. Experience with Terraform/CloudFormation and infrastructure-as-code. Familiarity with OpenShift/Kubernetes outside AWS. Experience with PostgreSQL/Aurora or enterprise RDBMS platforms.
