Join our first-class team to reinvent in-flight experience. In the role of Software Engineer I you'll play a pivotal part on our Engineering team. The Software Engineer will be responsible for analysis, design, development, debugging and modification of embedded control software for electronics applications such as controllers, PFC based 3-phase Active Rectifiers, Motor Control, DC-DC Convertors and AC Drives for harsh and hazardous environments for the commercial aerospace products. The Software Engineer will provide technical support to engineering projects related to water and waste systems and components. Using sound engineering principles, this engineer will work to ensure robust, airworthy designs are attained.
This position contributes to our vision by: Development embedded software for electronics systems and electro mechanical products Control system software requirement development and generates embedded (C or C++) code for controllers, 3-phase Active Rectifiers and Motor Control with on-board digital signal processors Contributes to system design and independently develops subsystem designs that meet the requirements. Considers tradeoffs between requirements, cost and reliability in the choice of a design approach Work with suppliers to review software design. Support software design review activities. Interface with vendors, customers and other departments on technical issues. Executes thorough unit test plans. Reports, analyzes, debugs and corrects anomalies. Integrates with other components, solving problems within and across subsystems, to produce a final products Perform RTCA/DO-178 based process tasks and generate PSAC, SDP, SVP, SCMP, SQAP, SCI, and SAS documents Independently finds or creates solutions to problems requiring research, resourcefulness and creativity Understands, follows, and promotes, ZWWS policies and procedures Process engineering changes in the development of water and waste systems and equipment Utilizes sound technical problem solving to support ongoing projects with support from higher level engineers Documents findings and trade studies Other duties as assigned Special Skills & Knowledge Hands on programming skills in programming languages such as C/C++, VHDL/Verilog and/or scripting languages such as Perl/Python or Power Shell Knowledge in embedded systems architecture and programming Programming skills in LabVIEW Programming skills for developing firmware on TMS320F28XX DSP, PIC16XX, MC68XXX or X86 DSPs/Microcontrollers

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions., Bachelor's or Master's Degree in electrical or computer engineering from a recognized ABET accredited institution or equivalent 1 - 5 years of electronics experience with a desire for mixed signal design experience Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to move around the office. Work Environment - The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal. Travel - Periodical travel is minimal and may be 5-10 days per quarter.
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: Analytical - Knowledge and understanding of active rectifiers, PFC, inverter and motor control software design. Design - Design knowledge of CAN, ARIN429, I2C, SPI, RS232 software modules Modeling Skills - Ability to use electrical circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE and system level simulation tools such as PSIM/MATLAB/Simulink. Interpersonal Skills - Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Ability to communicate and ability to work in a team environment. Remains open to others' ideas and tries new things. Hands on experience of using electronics equipment such as programmable power supplies, high speed digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers etc. Design & develop instrumentation capabilities for product electrical parameter characterization and validation Design level understanding of communication protocols such as CAN, ARINC, SPI, RS-232 etc. Experience in aerospace regulations such as RTCA/DO-160/D0-178 and RTCA/DO-254 guidelines Knowledge in major aerospace OEM electronics design guidelines Possess a strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence. Ability to communicate, ability to work in a team environment. Ability to provide leadership to other members of the engineering team Experience in using design/simulation tools such as Altium/OrCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM, PSPICE etc.

The expected salary range for this position is between $70,310 - $101,090 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, and other factors permitted by law.
