Job description
We are seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer to support enterprise network and telecommunications implementation projects. This role involves hands-on installation, deployment, documentation, testing, and support of network infrastructure components while working closely with engineering teams, project managers, customers, and Government stakeholders., * Install and deploy network infrastructure equipment including racks, switches, wireless access points, UPS systems, PDUs, patch panels, and CAT6 cabling.
- Perform rack-and-stack activities, cable management, labeling, equipment activation, and connectivity testing.
- Support implementation of new technologies, infrastructure upgrades, and network modernization efforts.
- Document field findings, installation results, and project activities while identifying issues that could impact schedules or deliverables.
- Conduct equipment assessments and provide technical observations for engineering review.
- Support ISP/OSP implementation activities and collect information required for network design recommendations.
- Update network documentation, inventory records, diagrams, and as-built drawings based on installation and testing results.
- Coordinate site access, equipment readiness, and implementation schedules with Government Points of Contact (POCs).
- Assist with project status updates, stakeholder communications, and project documentation.
- Participate in quality assurance processes to ensure installations meet established standards and requirements.
- Work collaboratively within implementation teams to complete assigned project objectives.
- Support technical, administrative, and operational activities across multiple projects.
Requirements
The ideal candidate has experience with structured cabling, network hardware installations, infrastructure deployments, and technical documentation in a professional environment., * Experience supporting network infrastructure, telecommunications, low-voltage cabling, or technology deployments.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards and installation best practices.
- Experience with CAT5e/CAT6 cabling, termination, patching, labeling, and cable management.
- Familiarity with network hardware installations, including switches, patch panels, racks, UPS systems, and wireless access points.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, floor plans, diagrams, and installation instructions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
- Willingness to travel to customer locations as required., * Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure deployment projects.
- Familiarity with ISP/OSP environments, fiber infrastructure, or telecommunications projects.
- Knowledge of network testing, certification, and documentation procedures.
- Experience working with Government customers or regulated environments.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, BICSI, CCNA, or equivalent technical certifications.
