Job description
Arkansas State University-Mountain Home is seeking a knowledgeable and service-oriented SQL Programmer with Server Administration experience to support the institution's enterprise information systems, data reporting, and technology infrastructure. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining SQL queries, stored procedures, and reports that support institutional operations, regulatory reporting, and strategic decision-making.
In addition to database programming responsibilities, this position assists with the administration, maintenance, security, and performance of Microsoft server environments to ensure the reliability and availability of institutional applications.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for data extraction and reporting.

Collaborate with functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Monitor and troubleshoot data-related issues, ensuring timely resolution.

Design Argos processes for state and federal reports to allow the individual departments to maintain for the future.

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of SQL code, processes, and procedures.

Provide training and support to end-users and staff on Banner database functionalities and tools.

Conduct data analysis and provide insights to support decision-making across the organization.

Support Microsoft Servers to ensure performance and security of the institution's applications.

Monitor the server health and performance and ensure uptime and availability.

Apply security patches and updates to the Microsoft servers.

Assist faculty, staff, and students with help-desk items as needed to support the Computer Services Department.
Requirements
Proven experience as an SQL programmer with a preferred focus on Banner ERP. Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL Programming and database management systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details. Basic knowledge of server administration, including experience with Windows as well as understanding of cloud database solutions such as AWS and Azure. Excellent communications skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Preferred skills: experience with data visualization tools is a plus. Understanding of higher education business processes and data governance., Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred/ or equivalent experience in SQL programming.
Preferred qualifications include the basic minimum qualification plus experience in Banner Student Information Systems and Argos reporting. Familiar with other database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL)
