Job description

  • Build and maintain WordPress websites, themes, templates, and page layouts
  • Customize WordPress themes using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress best practices
  • Configure, update, and troubleshoot WordPress plugins
  • Convert designs or client requirements into clean, responsive website pages
  • Fix layout issues, browser compatibility problems, bugs, and website errors
  • Make content updates, page edits, menu changes, and site structure improvements
  • Support custom post types, custom fields, taxonomies, and reusable content sections
  • Improve website speed, usability, accessibility, and mobile responsiveness
  • Assist with website migrations, backups, staging updates, and launch preparation
  • Work with designers, project managers, developers, and client-facing team members
  • Follow Git, code review, documentation, and development workflow standards
  • Communicate progress clearly and raise blockers early

Requirements

Koda North is hiring a WordPress Developer to help build, maintain, and improve client websites, custom WordPress features, themes, plugins, and content-driven web experiences.

This role is a good fit for a junior to mid-level developer who has real hands-on WordPress experience, understands how websites are built and maintained, and can work carefully with existing code, designs, content, plugins, and client requirements.

You will work on WordPress development tasks such as theme updates, custom page templates, plugin configuration, bug fixes, responsive layout improvements, performance improvements, content structure, and integrations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, willing to learn, and comfortable asking good questions when requirements are unclear., * 2+ years of hands-on WordPress development experience

  • Good understanding of WordPress themes, templates, plugins, and the admin dashboard
  • Experience with PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Ability to customize existing WordPress themes and build clean page templates
  • Experience working with custom fields, custom post types, and reusable content structures
  • Understanding of responsive design and mobile-friendly development
  • Ability to troubleshoot plugin conflicts, layout issues, and common WordPress errors
  • Basic understanding of website performance, SEO structure, and accessibility best practices
  • Experience using Git or a similar version control workflow
  • Ability to follow design files, technical instructions, and project requirements carefully
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to test work before delivery
  • Clear communication and ability to work with a remote team

Nice to have

  • Experience with Advanced Custom Fields, Elementor, Gutenberg, WPBakery, or similar WordPress tools
  • Experience building custom WordPress plugins or extending existing plugin functionality
  • Experience with WooCommerce or membership-based WordPress websites
  • Experience with REST APIs, third-party integrations, forms, CRMs, or marketing tools
  • Experience with website migration, hosting setup, DNS, SSL, staging, and deployment workflows
  • Experience with performance optimization, caching, image optimization, and Core Web Vitals
  • Experience with accessibility improvements and SEO-friendly site structure
  • Experience working on healthcare, local government, nonprofit, education, or service business websites
  • Experience maintaining multiple client websites at the same time
  • Experience with Figma, Adobe XD, or design-to-WordPress implementation
