Job description
- You act as the technical partner to Sales within the Automation Business Unit, translating customer needs into feasible, competitive, and value-driven automation solutions.
- End-to-end intralogistics concepts are designed by you through the integration of hardware and software into one coherent overall solution.
- During the sales phase, ownership of the solution lies with you - from the initial concept through to the final customer proposal.
- Customer requirements are analyzed and turned into tailored automation and intralogistics concepts across mobile, stationary, and software components.
- Technical solution designs, cost calculations, and timelines are developed and validated by you to support strong and commercially viable customer proposals.
- Solutions are presented in a clear and structured way, with you acting as the technical expert toward the customer.
- Close alignment with Sales, partners, suppliers, Realization, Product Management, Service, and CTO teams is part of your role to ensure consistency and a smooth handover into execution.
- You combine KION portfolio elements with third-party technologies to create best-fit, scalable solution concepts.
- Clear, transferable solution designs created by you enable successful project execution beyond the sales phase.
- Standardization and continuous improvement are supported through your contribution of best practices, scalable solution approaches, and market feedback across the ONE Solution Design organization.
Requirements
- You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Logistics, Automation, or a related field - or bring equivalent professional experience.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. German is nice to have.
- Proven professional experience in designing and delivering complex automation solutions within intralogistics, material handling, or warehouse automation.
- Experience working on integrated, multidisciplinary projects in international environments, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cultures and functions.
- Strong expertise in the design and implementation of automated logistics solutions, including material flow systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), control systems, and interfaces to racking systems.
- You combine commercial awareness with excellent negotiation skills and feel confident leading solution strategies and customer discussions.
- A structured communication style, strong presentation skills, and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to different stakeholders.
- Sound analytical thinking with a solid understanding of the relationship between order intake, revenue, and overall business performance.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D layout software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CET Designer, as well as simulation tools (e.g. Plant Simulation) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- A willingness to travel occasionally and thrive in an international working environment.
