Job description
Responsible for: Senior Web Developer, Web Assistant, SEO Executive, Digital Design Support and the Digital Growth Department., You will lead our Digital Growth department, taking shared ownership of how we deliver websites, SEO and leading our online advertising across the business.
You'll be responsible for ensuring our digital services work together to deliver measurable growth for our clients while supporting and developing the people within the department.
As a smaller agency, this is still a hands-on role. Alongside leading the department, you'll actively deliver digital work, manage key client accounts and bring new ideas that help both our clients and Planit Scotland continue to grow.
You'll work closely with our Managing Director, Head of Client Services and AI & Innovation Lead to ensure digital remains commercially strong, future-focused and aligned with the wider business.
Your Purpose
To lead and grow Planit's Digital Growth department by delivering outstanding digital performance, developing the team, improving systems and helping our clients achieve measurable business growth.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Department Leadership
- Lead the Digital Growth department and create a positive, accountable team culture.
- Support and develop the digital team through regular coaching and feedback.
- Creating and empowering strategic workflow across the department.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to a consistently high standard.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and collaboration.
- Work closely with the wider leadership team to continually improve how Planit delivers digital marketing., * Take ownership and execution of online advertising across Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta and emerging digital platforms include paid spend on platforms such as Chat GPT..
- Supporting KPI's within the department across all websites, SEO and paid advertising - ensuring they work together to maximise client performance.
- Review account performance and identify opportunities to improve results.
- Keep up to date with changes across digital marketing, AI and emerging platforms.
- Bring fresh ideas that help clients stay ahead of their competitors.
Client Success
- Manage a portfolio of key digital clients.
- Build trusted relationships with clients through proactive communication.
- Present performance reports and recommendations with confidence.
- Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts.
- Support the wider team with digital expertise when required.
- Proactively leading on online client teams/zoom calls.
Commercial Performance
- Ensure the department operates profitably and efficiently.
- Monitor utilisation, capacity and project profitability.
- Support proposals and pitches for new business.
- Identify opportunities to introduce new digital services that create value for clients.
Team Development
You'll provide leadership and support across the Digital Growth department, working closely with:
- Senior Web Developer
- Web Assistant
- SEO Executive
- Digital Design Support
While these team members report into you, you'll also work collaboratively with the wider Planit Scotland team to ensure every client receives a joined-up service.
What Success Looks Like
After your first 12 months you will have:
- Built a confident, well-organised Digital Growth department.
- Improved digital performance across our client portfolio.

Requirements
We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership.
Someone who is naturally curious, commercially aware and genuinely excited by how digital marketing continues to evolve.
You'll probably have experience leading digital campaigns, but just as importantly, you'll enjoy helping people develop, solving problems and continually looking for better ways of working.
You don't need to know everything, but you do need to enjoy learning.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience creating, managing and executing Google Ads campaigns - Search, Display, PMax etc (3 Years Minimum experience)
- Strong understanding of paid social advertising. (META)
- Experience working with SEO and website performance.
- Good understanding of analytics and reporting.
- Experience managing or mentoring people.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience within an agency environment.
- Experience using GA4, Google Tag Manager.
- Experience presenting strategy to clients.
Desirable
- Based in Scotland
- Drivers Licence (To visit clients)
- Experience with WordPress and Elementor.
- Experience in using AI Tools to a medium / advanced level., * PPC Campaign Management: 2 years (preferred)
