Job description

We're looking for a Junior Automation & Software Developer to join our growing development team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys technology, likes solving problems and wants to work on projects that have a real impact.

No two days are the same, and you'll be encouraged to learn, experiment and develop new ideas from day one.

Your Role

You'll play an important part in developing the automation that powers our platform.

Using Node-RED as your primary development environment, you'll create intelligent workflows that connect devices, process live data and automate how buildings respond to changing conditions.

As your experience grows, you'll also work with Java, APIs, databases and cloud technologies to help expand our platform.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing and building automation workflows using Node-RED.
  • Connecting sensors, gateways, meters and building systems.
  • Creating integrations between our platform and third-party software.
  • Processing live data to automate building control strategies.
  • Supporting the development of Java applications and backend services.
  • Testing, troubleshooting and continuously improving our software.
  • Working alongside our engineering team to develop innovative energy management solutions.

Requirements

You don't need years of commercial experience-we're looking for someone with enthusiasm, curiosity and a genuine passion for technology.

You'll ideally have:

  • An interest in automation, software development and connected technologies.
  • Experience with Node-RED, or a strong desire to learn it.
  • Some programming experience, ideally in Java or JavaScript.
  • An understanding of APIs and how software systems communicate.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to learn quickly and work as part of a collaborative team.
