Job description
The role involves day to day responsibilities including attending urgent data network service affecting fault calls, and new networking equipment installations. Regular travel across the UK to customer sites is expected and part of the role, and a car allowance or company vehicle is included in the package. The field service team-members also participate periodically in an out-of-hours rota (which includes an allowance), and report to our service desk during normal working hours. No specific times per day apply to any particular activity as these are all task-specific and most are reactive/intervention in nature. Overtime can be applicable to onsite out-of-hours work where customer charges are applied. Due to location applicants should be willing to travel by car to customer locations., * Provide 24x7 rota based on-call support to customers as part of the field engineering team.
- Be reactive to our internal service desk and assist them with supporting our customers both onsite and offsite.
- Be responsible for your site visit reports including quality, accuracy and timeliness.
- Working with the service desk manager, keep relevant technical and industry certifications up to date.
- Be willing to participate in up skilling for new technologies and products we are required to support in the field.
- Be prepared to travel to customer sites regularly.
- Maintain your issued toolkit and assets to a high standard.
- Maintain a high level of courtesy and professionalism with customers at all times.
Requirements
The field engineer role in our team is technical in nature and mainly involves working with networking equipment such as switches, routers, firewalls and wireless access points. We are looking for candidates that are experienced in the installation / cabling elements as well as networking. The role is largely customer site based across the UK (and into Europe) and activities are varied. The role would suit an individual who enjoys travelling, new technology exposure, has a can-do attitude and works well in a team. Successful candidates will also be required to achieve Cisco CCT certification where not already in place when employment starts (support will be provided to achieve). Cabling / Installation experience would be considered advantageous for a candidate., * Any networking / Installation experience
- Candidate must be fluent in English. Other language skills considered a plus.
- Candidate must have a valid passport and UK permitted driving license.
- Candidate must pass local background and security checks.
Work Experience
A candidate should have at least one years' experience;
- Working with Cisco switches and routers, in terms of configuring and troubleshooting and/or Installing
- Working with other varied data networking equipment, in terms of configuring and troubleshooting. WiFi experience desirable.
- Working as part of an on-call rota inclusive of 24x7 hours desirable.
- Customer facing technical activities, carried out on customer sites.
- Site visit report writing, in terms of technical activities carried out and recorded information.
Technical Knowledge
- Cabling and configuration of routers/switches and IOS software, inclusive of VLANs, network switching and IP routing.
- Structured cabling, * Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong network troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Strong customer facing skills.
- Excellent ability to interpret impact of network changes.

- Full clean driving license
- At least 1yrs practical networking experience
