Job description

At MilliporeSigma, our Digital and eCommerce division is looking to transform our Digital and eCommerce technology engine. As a Data & AI Software Engineer, you will play pivotal role in driving the next generation of intelligent, high-performing eCommerce experiences for our global eCommerce platforms (e.g., sigmaaldrich.com and sigmaaldrich.cn) and build new features and components in our evolving platform, helping to embrace modern AI Technology & Tools. As a Data & AI Engineer, you will play a critical role in our mission to innovate within the eCommerce space. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying AI and machine learning models that address key business challenges and enhance our digital offerings. The Digital and eCommerce team currently operates several B2B websites and direct digital sales channels via a globally deployed cloud-based platform that are a growth engine for MilliporeSigma's life science business. We provide a comprehensive catalog of all products, enabling our customers to find products and purchase products as well as get detailed scientific information on those products.

  • Hybrid role in St. Louis
  • Design and implement scalable AI/ML solutions using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and domain experts to integrate AI solutions into existing systems and workflows.
  • Analyze large datasets using tools like Pandas, NumPy, and SQL to extract actionable insights and inform decision-making.
  • Optimize and train AI/ML models for performance, reliability, and efficiency in production environments.
  • Utilize cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure for deploying and managing AI solutions.
  • Manage data pipelines and workflows using tools like Apache Spark, Airflow, and Docker for efficient data processing and model training.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in AI/ML technologies and methodologies, applying them to enhance our capabilities.
  • Document processes, model architectures, and results to ensure reproducibility and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or other technical field
  • 1+ years' experience in AI/ML model training and deployment including familiarity with agentic AI principles and applications
  • 1+ years' experience building and the deployment of autonomous AI agents using frameworks like LangChain, CrewAI, or AutoGen, * Master's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or other technical field.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R, with experience in data processing libraries, familiar with TensorFlow, PyTorch or Scikit-learn.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data management tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience building or integrating RAG-based architectures for LLM-assisted use cases and MLOps practices and tools.
  • Ability to work with global teams and a flexible work schedule. Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices/principles, Agile/Scrum methodologies, CI/CD pipelines and the product development lifecycle.
