Job description
The Systems Administrator I is a representative of the technical and hardware branch of Technology Services and is accountable for maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, which includes hardware, software, servers, storage solutions, networks, or physical facilities. This position also implements new systems and upgrades to existing technology systems, assists in technology capacity and disaster recovery planning, and applies technical knowledge to assist internal users with computer and technology related problems. This position works closely with system's end users bank-wide, as well as with system and technology vendors.
- Identifies and recommends opportunities for new or existing technology to be leveraged or implemented in alignment with the bank's strategy.
- Identifies, coordinates, plans and executes technology-focused small to medium projects independently.
- Regularly provides IT Help Desk end-user services as scheduled and needed (including some weekends).
- Researches and resolves technical issues encountered by user departments; leveraging vendor relationships and escalating to vendors as needed.
- Closely monitors and interacts with systems in order to maintain a high level of system availability for end users.
- Maintains supported versions of technology systems through application of patches and applying system upgrades.
- Maintains technology systems' compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry best practices in cooperation with the ISO.
- Position will develop and take the lead as a SME for one or more particular areas of technology.
- Stays up to date on technology system trends and operational changes happening outside the company.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in IT, Computer Science or related field preferred, Associate's Degree or three years equivalent experience and/or training required
- 3-5 years experience working in an IT related field
- Microsoft or Cisco certifications or equivalents a plus
- Must possess an understanding of technology systems administration and operation.
- Understanding of total bank operations desired but not required
- Handles moderate issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff
- Possesses working knowledge of the subject matter and performs work under general supervision
- Demonstrates creative, insightful problem solving skills
- Demonstrates possession of technical skills to be able to quickly diagnose and resolve system issues
- Demonstrates ability to independently conduct research related to systems issues or developments
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with customers to understand needs and concerns and effectively address them
- Demonstrates ability to plan, priority and execute daily and project focused work activities on time and within budget
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills
