Job description
The Network Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of network professionals and overseeing the performance, reliability, and security of enterprise network infrastructure across multiple sites. This role emphasizes leadership, strategic planning, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure the network environment effectively supports institutional priorities. The position is primarily managerial, with a focus on guiding teams, managing projects, and driving continuous improvement., + Lead and mentor a team of network engineers, fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth

Oversee the design, implementation, and support of enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance

Establish and enforce standards, policies, and best practices for network operations and systems administration

Manage multiple large-scale, concurrent projects, including planning, execution, and progress reporting

Partner with stakeholders across the organization to align network initiatives with business and academic needs

Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and renewals to ensure optimal service delivery and cost efficiency

Ensure accurate documentation, inventory management, and operational reporting for network systems

Drive continuous improvement initiatives, incorporating emerging technologies and industry best practices

Act as a primary point of contact for network-related services, escalations, and strategic initiatives

Promote strong communication and collaboration between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field

5+ years of experience managing technical teams, including direct supervision of network engineers

7+ years of experience supporting enterprise network environments

Strong expertise in network infrastructure technologies, including routing, switching, VPNs, wireless, and VoIP systems

Experience supporting large-scale environments with 1,000+ users and distributed networks

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead complex, concurrent projects

Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences

Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex issues and leading resolution across teams and vendors
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)

Experience in higher education or similarly complex, multi-site organizations

Advanced networking certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE)

Experience with enterprise network monitoring tools and IT service management platforms

Deep familiarity with Cisco networking and wireless technologies

Experience leading large-scale infrastructure modernization or transformation initiatives
