Job description

This is a build-and-operate role at the center of PlugPV's technology stack. Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Solutions Architect both builds the software our teams rely on and keeps our core systems running. On any given week you might ship a feature in our Swift-based app, stand up a back-end service or automation, or troubleshoot a production issue in one of our core platforms.

We're a small team, so this person needs to move comfortably between hands-on software development, systems architecture, and day-to-day IT operations - turning business problems into working solutions and then supporting them, with a focus on scalable, secure, cloud-based systems for our employees and sales teams., * Software Development: Design and build native iOS/iPadOS applications in Swift and SwiftUI, taking features from concept through deployment and iteration.

  • Back-End & Application Development: Build and maintain back-end services, APIs, and data models (e.g., PostgreSQL, REST integrations) that power our applications. Design and operate automations and integrations connecting our core platforms, ensuring they are secure, scalable, observable, and reliable.
  • Core Systems: Obtain deep understanding of and manage core systems used at PlugPV.
  • Solution Design: Collaborate with management and internal teams to understand business requirements and translate them into practical, scalable technical solutions across core systems.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with operations teams to streamline processes where possible.
  • Cloud Expertise: Stay current with cloud technologies, development practices, and industry trends. Leverage this knowledge to propose innovative solutions that drive business value.
  • Employee Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to employees, communicating complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Collaborate on technology roadmaps and assist on alignment with business objectives.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges in proposed solutions and provide mitigation strategies.
  • Hardware Management: Manage hardware and end-user devices, including procurement, setup, and lifecycle support.
  • Additional duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience building and shipping applications, ideally including native iOS/iPadOS development in Swift and SwiftUI.
  • Experience developing and maintaining back-end services, APIs, and databases (PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or similar.)
  • Experience architecting and supporting cloud-based systems and integrations.
  • Comfort operating across software development, systems administration, and IT support.
  • Experience working with off-the-shelf workflow automation and integration tools.
  • Experience with CRM, ERP, or other business system administration., If you're a detail-oriented problem solver who loves turning complex projects into solutions that support the clean energy movement-we'd love to hear from you. Apply with your resume and a brief note on why you're excited about technology in the residential solar industry.
