Job description
Family Dollar is seeking a highly capable Systems Engineer , to design, deliver, and operate our hybrid infrastructure platforms. This role is responsible for cloud, virtualization, storage, and core systems across both on-premises and public cloud environments.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth and brings a forward-looking mindset focused on automation, scalability, reliability, and cost optimization .
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Hybrid Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering

Design, implementation, and operations of hybrid environments (public cloud + on-prem)

Manage and optimize virtualization platforms including VMware and oVirt

Partner with network, security, and application teams to support enterprise-wide initiatives
Systems & Platform Engineering

Ensure stability, security, and performance of Linux and Windows server environments

Standardize builds, patching, and lifecycle management
Automation & Modernization

Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation initiatives using tools like Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, and Bash

Reduce manual operations and improve deployment consistency
Operational Excellence
- Monitor system health, performance, and capacity; proactively resolve issues to ensure high availability
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with network, security, and application teams to support enterprise initiatives

Support large-scale programs including migrations, modernization, and separation activities
Documentation & Governance

Maintain clear documentation of architecture, processes, and operational procedures

Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and governance standards
Requirements
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship., + Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field

7+ years of experience in systems or infrastructure engineering

Strong expertise in hybrid cloud environments and virtualization (VMware, oVirt)

Deep knowledge of Linux and Windows server administration

Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Ansible)

Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Proven ability to operate in fast-paced environments and manage competing priorities
Nice to Have (Preferred Skills)

Experience with public cloud platforms (OCI, Azure, or GCP)

Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)

Exposure to monitoring/observability tools (Datadog, Zabbix, etc.)

Experience in large-scale transformation or infrastructure separation program
