Job description

We are seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to support mission-focused infrastructure, secure cloud and on-premise environments, system administration, automation, and DevSecOps delivery for defense technology programs. This role supports the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico and requires a strong foundation in infrastructure operations, secure system administration, CI/CD pipelines, automation, configuration management, and cybersecurity best practices. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical professional who can support secure infrastructure environments, improve deployment workflows, harden systems, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and work closely with software engineers, systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, administrators, and Government stakeholders. Candidates with an active DoD clearance and Security+ certification are strongly preferred. Strong U.S. citizen candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a clearance may also be considered.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevSecOps & Secure Delivery

  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve DevSecOps practices across mission-focused software and infrastructure environments
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, build processes, release workflows, and environment promotion strategies
  • Integrate security practices into development, testing, deployment, and operations workflows
  • Support secure software delivery aligned with Government, DoD, and program security requirements
  • Help improve deployment reliability, repeatability, auditability, and operational readiness
  • Collaborate with software, systems, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams to resolve delivery and environment issues

Infrastructure & System Administration

  • Support administration, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of secure infrastructure environments
  • Manage servers, virtual machines, operating systems, networking components, storage, access controls, and environment configurations
  • Support Linux and/or Windows system administration activities
  • Monitor system health, availability, performance, logs, and operational events
  • Support patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, backup processes, and disaster recovery readiness
  • Maintain infrastructure documentation, runbooks, configuration records, and operational procedures

Security, Compliance & Hardening

  • Apply cybersecurity best practices across infrastructure, applications, pipelines, and operational environments
  • Support system hardening, access control, vulnerability management, security monitoring, and remediation activities
  • Assist with compliance documentation, security artifacts, audit readiness, and evidence collection
  • Support implementation of security controls aligned with DoD standards and program requirements
  • Work with cybersecurity stakeholders to identify risks, resolve findings, and improve security posture
  • Support secure handling of sensitive Government systems, data, and infrastructure

Automation & Configuration Management

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts, infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, and repeatable deployment processes
  • Automate routine administration, provisioning, monitoring, patching, testing, or reporting activities where appropriate
  • Support tools and workflows for configuration consistency across development, test, staging, and production environments
  • Improve operational efficiency through scripting, tooling, automation, and documentation
  • Help standardize environment builds, software releases, and infrastructure change processes

Technical Collaboration & Senior-Level Contribution

  • Serve as a senior technical resource for DevSecOps, infrastructure, administration, and secure operations

  • Mentor junior engineers and administrators on DevSecOps practices, infrastructure management, security discipline, and troubleshooting

  • Support technical reviews, architecture discussions, release planning, sprint activities, and operational readiness reviews

  • Communicate risks, blockers, technical findings, and recommendations clearly to technical teams and leadership

  • Support proposal efforts, technical assessments, solution planning, and customer-facing briefings as needed, Success in this role means helping the team deliver secure, reliable, and repeatable infrastructure and software delivery capabilities for mission-focused defense programs. Strong performers will:

Requirements

Security Clearance: Active DoD clearance strongly preferred, Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a U.S. DoD security clearance within the first year of employment. Certification Requirement: Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 / 8140 certification strongly preferred or required based on program needs., * U.S. Citizenship required

  • Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a U.S. DoD security clearance within the first year of employment
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in DevSecOps, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, system administration, cloud operations, cybersecurity operations, or related technical roles
  • Experience supporting secure infrastructure environments for software, data, or mission-focused systems
  • Experience with Linux and/or Windows system administration
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, build systems, release workflows, or environment management
  • Experience with scripting or automation using tools/languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, vulnerability remediation, access control, system hardening, and secure configuration practices
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with software engineers, systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, administrators, technical leadership, and Government stakeholders
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM supporting AFNWC
  • Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 / 8140 certification strongly preferred

  • Experience with AWS, Azure, GovCloud, classified cloud, or secure Government cloud environments
