Job description

We are looking for a hands-on IT Manager to lead day-to-day infrastructure operations while managing a small team. This role is responsible for maintaining a mixed on-prem and cloud environment, supporting critical systems, and ensuring high availability for over 1,000 users. The ideal candidate is both technical and collaborative, with strong experience in Windows server environments, virtualization, and Azure., * Provision, configure, and maintain 200+ Windows servers (60 physical, 140 virtual).

  • Administer and maintain Hyper-V virtual environments.
  • Manage network infrastructure, including firewalls, routing, switching, and securing enterprise environments.
  • Manage Active Directory (on-prem) and Azure AD / Entra ID for 1,000+ users.
  • Spin up and deploy new servers and user accounts across hybrid environments.
  • Support and maintain AS400 systems and related infrastructure.
  • Maintain and support Azure infrastructure, including web applications and ERP systems.
  • Monitor system performance and availability; identify and implement improvements.
  • Manage ticket queue, resolve issues, and oversee technical escalations.
  • Establish and improve operational processes, including incident management, change management, and service delivery.
  • Plan and support system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management across infrastructure and applications.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on IT projects and system improvements.
  • Partner with teams to strengthen cybersecurity efforts, including implementing safeguards, monitoring threats, and ensuring systems and data remain secure and compliant.
  • Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity processes to ensure system resilience and minimal downtime.
  • Develop and maintain IT documentation, standards, and operational procedures to improve consistency and reduce risk.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and audit requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on IT projects, upgrades, and system improvements.
  • Oversee employee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring timely account setup, access provisioning, and secure deactivation of systems and permissions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4 IT staff members, including performance management and workload prioritization.
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with third-party providers for support and project delivery.
  • Plan and support system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management across infrastructure and applications.
  • Provide after-hours or on-call support as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required; industry certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator, Microsoft 365 Administrator, CompTIA Security+, ITIL, or equivalent are preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or related roles.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server environments.
  • Solid experience with Hyper-V virtualization.
  • Proven experience with Active Directory and Azure AD / Entra ID.
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and user account management.
  • Experience supporting hybrid environments (on-prem + Azure).
  • Familiarity with AS400 systems.
  • Understanding of enterprise infrastructure best practices, including security, high availability, and redundancy principles.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills., * Experience supporting manufacturing or distribution environments, including ERP systems and shop floor operations.
  • Familiarity with IBM i (AS/400) environments and modernization or migration efforts.
  • Experience working in hybrid cloud environments, including Azure infrastructure and cloud migration initiatives.
  • Experience supporting enterprise environments with multi-site or large user bases.
  • Exposure to disaster recovery and high availability solutions (e.g., replication, backup strategies, failover).
  • Experience with IT security tools and initiatives such as endpoint protection, identity security, or SIEM platforms.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and ticketing systems.
  • Experience supporting enterprise environments with multi-site or large user bases.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator or equivalent.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and leadership skills, with the ability to build relationships, lead teams, and navigate complex technical challenges.
