Job description
We are seeking a full-time F-35 Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support F-35 Operational Test (OT) at Nellis AFB with travel to bases in the Southwest United States and Washington D.C. area.
The F-35 United Operational Test Team (UOTT) has its headquarters at Nellis AFB, NV and includes USAF, USN, and USMC personnel as well as service members from the United Kingdom and Australia. UOTT is responsible for OT of all three variants of the F-35 and oversees four OT squadrons (USAF, USN, USMC, and RAF) while conducting tests on open-air ranges and sophisticated simulation facilities. F-35 SMEs work with active duty, government civilian and contractor personnel to plan, brief, conduct, and debrief flight tests to include data analysis and report writing.
Responsibilities

Keep informed on F-35 software, lethality, survivability, and tactics updates

Provide coordination and liaison between F-35 Pilots and UOTT Analysts and Engineers

Participate in test planning, briefing, execution, debriefing, data analysis, and report writing

Review F-35 cockpit video and flight data with pilots and analysts to identify enhancements and deficiencies and generate Deficiency Reports when required

Coordinate with OT Squadrons, the Joint Program Office, Lockheed Martin and its subcontractors, and government oversight organizations

Support F-35 testing in Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) facilities as a Test Conductor, White Force Commander and Red Air simulation pilot

Regularly interact with and provide guidance, support, and input to internal and external customers, including operational squadrons, weapon school personnel, and program offices
Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Science, Aeronautics, Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Physics, or related scientific discipline

Twelve (12) or more years' direct experience employing U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) strike/fighter aircraft

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload to maintain schedules, deadlines, and standards on assigned projects

Travel (20%) to various work sites throughout the U.S.

Active Secret clearance with TS/SCI Eligibility

Eligible for SAP/SAR programs

Valid State Driver License

Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States, complete a U.S. government I-9 form, and successfully pass a government background check
Desired Experience/Skills
-
Weapons school graduate, test pilot school graduate, former weapons school instructor, TPS, or FRS/TPU instructor

Comprehensive technical and functional knowledge of F-35 weapon and mission systems

Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience in a relevant field or industry will be considered in lieu of degree

Familiarity or experience with the U.S. Armed Forces, Foreign Military Personnel and DoD federal contractors and the aerospace, defense, or commercial aviation industry

Experience with various operational squadrons, training squadrons, test squadrons, program offices, and tactical centers of excellence

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
