Job description

O3 is hiring a senior AWS Platform Engineer for a roughly six-month contract, supporting the infrastructure, routing, and production cutover for an enterprise digital platform migration for a membership-association client.

This is a combined architecture and hands-on build role. You'll lead the cloud infrastructure and edge-layer architecture end to end, from design through production cutover, while working alongside O3 and the client's separate front-end vendor.

O3 will remain the primary client-facing lead, while this contractor will own the technical architecture and implementation for the infrastructure, routing, and cutover workstream.

Engagement Details:

  • Contract role with an immediate start
  • Candidates should be available to interview and begin onboarding promptly if selected
  • Approximately six month engagement
  • Expected workload:
  • ~10 hours per week during discovery phase
  • ~20 hours per week for approximately 10 weeks during the build phase
  • Tapering part-time support toward launch, with focused availability required around the January production cutover

What you'll do

  • Lead the solution architecture for infrastructure, routing, and platform cutover, including defining the boundary between O3's platform work and the front-end vendor's build
  • Design and implement a redirect and routing solution using AWS CloudFront
  • Stand up AWS infrastructure, including VPCs, public/private subnets, peering, and environment configuration across test and production
  • Build and manage infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD workflows using GitHub
  • Set up and manage a Neon Postgres deployment
  • Configure the CloudFront edge layer and implement redirect-based routing
  • Stand up edge security using AWS WAF, rate limiting, and bot protection
  • Provision TLS through ACM and plan and execute a live DNS cutover for a high-traffic site, including the runbook, rollback plan, smoke testing, and post-launch hypercare
  • Validate connectivity and routing across Vercel, WordPress VIP, Salesforce, and other third-party services to ensure existing integrations continue functioning through the cutover

Requirements

  • Deep AWS experience, especially VPC networking, CloudFront, edge routing, and DNS
  • Strong infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD experience
  • Hands-on experience with Neon Postgres
  • A track record of leading production DNS migrations and cutovers for live, high-traffic sites
  • Experience designing and implementing redirect and routing solutions at the edge
  • Comfort operating as the primary infrastructure owner and coordinating across multiple vendors
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Availability to overlap with US Eastern working hours, particularly around cutover coordination

Nice to have

  • Working knowledge of how Vercel, WordPress VIP, and Salesforce manage DNS, CDN, routing, and origin configuration
  • Experience with enterprise web platforms or large-scale digital migrations
  • Experience with AWS WAF, rate limiting, bot protection, and post-launch hypercare
