Job description

Are you a UX designer driven by curiosity and craft?

Do you love designing next-gen enterprise product experiences?

Join the Akamai STG UX team!

Akamai's Security Technology Group (STG) builds the platforms that protect a meaningful share of the internet. We're looking for a Senior UX Designer to lead end-to-end design efforts from concept to launch. You'll take genuinely complex enterprise problems and turn them into interfaces that feel obvious, considered, and good to use.

Partner with the best

Design and optimize user experiences by creating intuitive, accessible, and engaging interfaces that align with business goals and user needs.

As an User Experience Designer Senior, you will be responsible for:

  • Representing users by ensuring their needs and feedback guide and influence each design decision as a strategic partner.
  • Simplifying intricate systems to ensure clarity and ease of navigation.
  • Designing intuitive, visually refined interfaces that enhance the entire product, from typography, layout, and structure to states, motion, and micro-interactions.
  • Owning interaction models for designed flows: ensuring responses, transitions, error recovery, and behavior under load and scale function seamlessly.
  • Evolving the design system by auditing components, defining patterns, contributing new elements, and collaborating with engineering for synchronization.
  • Encouraging design system adoption across teams by reviewing designs, addressing pattern conflicts, and identifying shared component opportunities for one-offs.
  • Enhancing our team's collective understanding of design principles and system best practices through active participation and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate expertise designing enterprise software, understanding business users, admins, technical workflows, permissions, roles, dense data, and long-lived tasks.
  • Demonstrate exceptional visual design skills with a portfolio showcasing expertise in typography, layout, color, and current UI trends.
  • Maintain design systems and component libraries in Figma, including components, variants, tokens, documentation, versioning, adoption, with understanding of engineering constraints.
  • Demonstrate expertise in interaction design by crafting behaviors, including states, feedback, transitions, edge cases, and empty/error/loading conditions.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to link content, terminology, and product alignment across technical domains.
