Job description
Lineage Logistics, LLC seeks a Senior Database Administrator in Novi, MI, Duties: As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the daily operation of our database deployments around the world. This senior position requires a knowledge of technology that is both broad and deep. You will install, configure, maintain, and monitor several different types of database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. You will also be responsible for performance tuning through collaboration with global development groups and third-party support organizations, data migration and lifecycle management, and disaster recovery and high available designs to meet Lineages' internal availability targets. Lineage has a cloud first model so much of this work will be done using AWS RDS and EC2 database technologies. As a successful Senior Database Administrator, you will ensure our systems are secure, efficient, scalable, available, durable, and maintainable. At Lineage, the aim is not to build the largest IT group; instead, we are creating a small, highly-skilled team that focuses on having right mix of talents, skills, and the capacity to learn in areas that define our core differentiation. We then leverage cloud services, best-of-breed technologies, and external teams to augment our capabilities with sufficient capacity. This means that in addition to being a great architect, an ideal candidate will need to be able to review and collaborate with others - both internal and external - to ensure that we are collectively able to deliver.
- Responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Lineage Logistics global database infrastructure.
- Manages monitoring and alerting for performance and service availability.
- Leads performance tuning activities.
- Responsible for data movement including backups, refreshes, and migrations, point-in-time restores, read replicas, Amazon S3 Bucket and Amazon Database Migration Services.
- Manages Change Tracking and CDC configurations used for Data Lake population.
- Pursues innovation and continuous improvement that enhances security, efficiency, scalability, availability, durability, and maintainability.
- Collaborates with others to solve complex problems and resolve technological disagreement with informed, rational, practical solutions.
- Mentors and provides guidance to other technical resources.
Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field plus 10 years of experience in related occupations. Requires 10 years of experience in the following: SQL Server administration in both cloud and on premises environments, including Always On Availability Groups and other database high availability technologies. SQL Server performance tuning and configuration, including optimization for ad hoc workloads, parallelism, memory allocation, and resolving lock contention and indexing inefficiencies. SQL Agent jobs, operators, alerts, and automated database maintenance and monitoring. Requires 5 years of experience in the following: Application and performance monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, and SolarWinds Orion. Strong scripting capabilities and experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools including PowerShell, SQLCMD, T SQL, AWS CLI, Ansible, and Terraform. AWS Cloud Practitioner certification or equivalent experience with cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services. Requires 3 years of experience in the following: Supporting WMS or warehousing database applications, including operational and administrative responsibilities. Telecommuting is permitted. Requires domestic travel up to 20% of the time., 40 hours/week.
