Every week, we go through almost 500 links from around the web, sharing the very best ones in our Dev Digest newsletter.

We’re sent - and stumble upon - all kinds of incredible tools, so we thought we’d put together a rolling series where she share the very best tools, to make sure nothing gets missed.

To start off, we’re looking at four frictionless ways to share files, so whether you’re moving assets between devices or quickly sharing something sensitive, there’s a tool here that fits.

Check out thie article in video format, or follow the links below to try the tools out for yourself.

1. FilePizza

If you want pure, old-school-style peer-to-peer file sharing, FilePizza is about as simple as it gets.

Files are transferred directly between browsers using WebRTC, so nothing gets stored on a server. Instead, the sender keeps the tab open while the transfer happens, so it’s perfect for quick, one-off transfers where both parties are online at
the same time.

2. Wormhole

Wormhole takes a different approach. You upload a file, and
receive a secure link that automatically expires after a period of your choosing (for example, after 24 hours).

The self-destructing link is a really nice touch, and gives you a little more piece of mind that your private files stay private.

3. LocalSend

AirDrop might just be the best technology Apple have ever produced. With LocalSend, it’s no longer limited to Apple devices.

To use it, just head to the website on both devices, ensure they’re on the same Wi-Fi network, and transfer files directly.

4. Magic Wormhole

Developers love the command line, and Magic Wormhole lets you securely transfer with a simple command.

After installing it, run:

wormhole send file.zip

Then, you’ll receive a short passcode to give to the recipient. Then, the recipient runs:

wormhole receive

They then enter the code, and the file transfers securely in seconds.
