World Congress 2025

You get what you define - Backlog Refinement

July 9, 2025 16:00 – 18:00 · 120 min M3 (45 Seats)

What this session covers

A lot of teams struggle with defining and creating good user stories and a well-prioritized product backlog. This impedes a common understanding within the team and leads to frictions in the further software development process. A common agile practice to avoid misunderstandings and rework, to facilitate better planning and to deliver what the customers really want and need, is to apply the INVEST-criteria on every requirement during the backlog refinement.

This workshop helps product owners, developers and every stakeholder involved with tools and techniques to create independent, negotiable, valuable, estimable, small and testable product backlog items. It will cover story slicing, writing better acceptance criteria, estimation, prioritization and product backlog management hands-on, based on the own examples of the attendees.
