When I first started programming, debugging unexpected behavior was frustrating—until I discovered unit testing. Testing not only validated my work but also improved my code’s structure. However, as I gained experience, I found that overly complex tests sometimes made things worse. Messy unit and integration tests obscured what was actually being tested, making failures difficult to diagnose and eroding trust in the tests themselves.
In this talk, we will explore how to harness the power of testing without unnecessary complexity. Using JUnit and Mockito, I will demonstrate how to write clear, purposeful tests that align with what you truly need to validate. We will also discuss how writing testable code naturally leads to cleaner, more maintainable, and more readable code.
By the end, you will have a reliable testing strategy that simplifies development and improves code quality—whether you are new to testing or struggling with complex test setups.
