Senior Backend Developer — AI: MCP & Agent Engine

Design and implement first-party MCP servers in async Rust (rmcp, axum, tokio) for hospital system integrations

Contribute to Agent Engine development: tool-call orchestration, permission validation, audit trail integration

Maintain and extend shared framework components (credential forwarding, transport, health, framing)

Write manifest entries per catalog spec for seamless basebox UI integration

Own quality standards: warning-free crates, production-ready code

Participate in agile development with 2-week sprints and self-managed work

Why This Role Exists
The MCP connector catalog is basebox's primary integration surface for hospital systems — Active Directory, HIS, document stores, email, CRM. The Agent Engine is the execution layer that will power our Multi-Agent App and every agent application after it. Both are on the critical path to the Q4 2026 goals.

What We're Looking For

• Solid production Rust experience (async/await, error handling, serde, tokio)
• HTTP service design expertise (REST/RPC, timeout handling, retries)
• Multi-tenant system experience with security focus
• Self-directed problem-solving with underdocumented APIs
• German language capability for DACH hospital customers

Nice to Have

• MCP (Model Context Protocol) or tool-calling framework experience
• Legacy RPC formats (XML-RPC, SOAP) for hospital systems
• Kubernetes/Helm deployment experience
• ISO 27001 compliance knowledge
