Job description

Specialty Systems, Inc. has an opening for a Windows Platform Engineer to join our team of technical professionals supporting Government customers and national security mission requirements. In this role, you will support the design, implementation, automation, and sustainment of Windows-based platform environments supporting mission-critical defense systems and software-intensive applications. The position involves working within Government-provided environments while supporting secure infrastructure operations, platform modernization, DevSecOps integration, and enterprise system lifecycle management activities. As a member of the Specialty Systems team, you will contribute directly to secure and reliable platform solutions supporting critical defense and intelligence missions. This position is located at our customer site location. In this position, you will work our customer’s Compressed Work Schedule which consists of working four 9-hour days (M-Th) and an 8-hour day (F) for the first week of a cycle followed by four 9-hour days (M-Th) and being off on the second Friday for the second week of a cycle. This results in a 3-day weekend every other week! RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, implement, and maintain Windows-based platform infrastructure across development, test, and production environments
  • Engineer, automate, and document system provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, and domain services
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions to support repeatable and scalable system deployments
  • Support DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD integration for Windows-based applications and services
  • Implement and maintain security configurations in compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements including STIGs and RMF controls
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize platform reliability, availability, and scalability
  • Coordinate patching, updates, vulnerability remediation, and lifecycle maintenance activities for Windows systems
  • Support virtualization and cloud-based environments including VMware, Hyper-V, and similar technologies
  • Collaborate with Agile software development, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and test teams to support platform integration and delivery
  • Maintain system documentation, configuration baselines, architecture diagrams, and technical artifacts supporting program requirements

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows support?, Minimum Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline preferred
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements
  • Active Secret Clearance required or ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting Windows-based enterprise environments or platform engineering activities
  • Security+ CE certification or ability to obtain certification within 3-6 months of hire
  • Strong experience administering Windows Server environments including:
  • Windows Server 2016/2019/2022
  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy
  • Domain services
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Experience supporting virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper-V
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps methodologies and CI/CD pipeline integration
  • Experience implementing and maintaining STIG compliance and RMF security controls
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within collaborative Government and contractor team environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Navy, NAVAIR, or DoD programs
  • Experience supporting cloud-based infrastructure environments
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes on Windows platforms
  • Microsoft certifications such as:
  • Windows Server Hybrid Administrator
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator
  • Other relevant Microsoft infrastructure certifications
  • Experience supporting classified or highly regulated environments
  • Familiarity with enterprise modernization and secure infrastructure initiatives
