Job description

Do you have expertise with Oracle database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting?, The DGS Office of Information Systems & Services (ISS) is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to support and enhance our enterprise Oracle and SQL Server environments. This role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and long-term planning of mission-critical databases to ensure high availability, strong performance, and robust security., * Installing, configuring, upgrading, and tuning Oracle and SQL Server databases to optimize performance.

  • Developing and implementing comprehensive backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Ensuring database security and compliance with agency, state, and federal policies.
  • Collaborating with application development teams on data modeling, solution design, and testing.
  • Providing Linux system administration support and participating in on-call rotations for critical systems.
  • Establishing and enforcing data standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed documentation for database configurations and operational procedures.

This position will be located in Richmond, Virginia and must report on-site. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule (telework up to 2 days/week) after successful completion of training period and an approved telework agreement.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows Server administration?, * Experience as a Database Administrator working with Oracle 19c or Oracle 26ai.

  • Strong understanding of the database development lifecycle, including data modeling, database coding, testing, and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of high-availability (HA) solutions, including support for Oracle RAC environments.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems.
  • Understanding of Change Management Control processes.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Advanced Security and encryption configuration.
  • Experience with Linux and Unix system administration.
  • Database administration experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
