Job description
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer - Web Application SME to serve as the highest escalation point for complex, mission-critical web application issues supporting a secure, government-facing environment., * Serve as Tier 4 escalation point for critical web application incidents and outages
- Perform advanced root cause analysis (RCA) across full-stack systems (frontend, backend, APIs, databases, infrastructure)
- Troubleshoot application issues in Kubernetes/containerized environments
- Lead problem management efforts and drive permanent resolution of recurring issues
- Collaborate with DevOps, Engineering, and Operations teams to improve system reliability
- Use monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK Stack) to diagnose and resolve issues
- Develop and maintain runbooks, documentation, and operational knowledge base content, This is a high-impact engineering opportunity supporting a mission-critical platform used in secure government environments. You will work on complex distributed systems and Kubernetes-based infrastructure, helping drive improvements in application performance, scalability, and operational resilience.
Requirements
In this role, you will ensure the stability, performance, and reliability of enterprise web applications running in a containerized (Kubernetes) and distributed environment. This position is ideal for a senior engineer who excels in deep technical troubleshooting, incident response, and cross-functional collaboration with DevOps and engineering teams., * 7+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Application Engineering, or similar role
- Strong experience supporting complex web applications (full stack: frontend, backend, APIs, databases)
- Proven experience in Tier 3/Tier 4 incident escalation and resolution
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or containerized environments
- Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Splunk, Grafana, ELK, etc.)
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, mission-critical environments
- U.S. Citizenship required (must be eligible for interim clearance)
Nice to Have
- Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD)
- Scripting/automation experience (Python, Bash, Ansible)
- Experience in government or highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
