Job description

An insurance company is looking for an experienced Data Modeler with strong knowledge of insurance products and data modeling principles to join the Data Management team supporting the Actuarial Transformation initiatives. This role is critical for designing and maintaining enterprise data models that support business processes and analytics. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with business acumen to ensure models align with organizational goals and regulatory standards. Experience working cross functionally with technical engineers and architects, as well as business stakeholders will be critical for a successful delivery. The team works core PST hours and this will be full-time 40 hours a week., Design and Develop Source-Agnostic Data Models:

Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models for insurance-related products, ensuring scalability and compliance with enterprise standards.

Translate Business Requirements:

Work closely with actuaries, business analysts, and IT teams to convert complex insurance product requirements into robust data structures.

Data Governance & Documentation:

Maintain metadata, data dictionaries, and ER diagrams; ensure adherence to modeling best practices and naming conventions.

Support Integration & Migration:

Assist in onboarding new data sources, mapping legacy systems, and supporting ETL processes for actuarial and reporting platforms.

Collaboration:

Partner with cross-functional teams to validate models, troubleshoot issues, and optimize data model performance for reporting and analytics.

-Strong understanding of insurance products (Employee Benefits, Investments, Annuities, Life, Disability, etc.) and related business processes.

-Engage actively with business SMEs, drive conversations, document business products/processes and translate that knowledge into data models.

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler with strong knowledge of insurance products and data modeling principles to join our Actuarial Data Management team. This role is critical for designing and maintaining enterprise data models that support business processes and analytics. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with business acumen to ensure models align with organizational goals and regulatory standards., Proficiency in data modeling concepts (normalization, dimensional modeling, ER diagrams) and single-source-of-truth concepts/repositories

-Experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, or similar).

-Familiarity with data warehousing and ETL frameworks.

-Experience with ER Studio preferred (or similar tools like ERwin, PowerDesigner).

-Excellent communication, problem-solving ability, and capacity to work independently in a fast-paced environment. -Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, Databricks) is a plus.

-Knowledge of actuarial or financial products and data structures.

-Exposure to metadata management and data governance frameworks.
