Job description
SUMMARY: This position is located in the Environmental Management Office (EMO) of the Construction and Facilities Maintenance Office (CFMO), a directorate functioning within the Idaho Military Division (IMD). The primary purpose of this position is to develop new geographic information system (GIS) data sets, maintain and update existing data sets, assist in the development of geospatial applications and perform a wide variety of data and geospatial analyses in support of geospatial and compliance programs, and environmental protection plans.
Requirements
(1) Must be a member of the Idaho National Guard. Provide your military grade, job title, MOS/AFSC/AOC and unit of assignment.
(2) Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted state issued driverās license (from any state). Provide your driverās license number, issuing state, license expiration date, and the full name specified on the license. (Do not provide a copy of your driverās license.)
(3) Must have, or be eligible to obtain, and maintain a favorable NACI/T1 Federal Background Investigation. If a selected candidate does not have a current favorable NACI/T1, as a condition of employment he/she must submit to the investigation process immediately upon hire/appointment. (At a minimum, a favorable suitability determination by the State Security Manager or OPM is required prior to appointment into this position.)
(4) Must be physically able to independently fulfill the full scope of duties in this position, to include lifting up to 50 pounds and being able to change a tire or self-recover a vehicle in rugged terrain in inclement weather.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference is given to applicants with bachelorās degree or higher that includes coursework in geography, cartography, geospatial science, or a closely related field.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (attach as a supporting document in Luma) :
Must have 24 months of experience performing work related to the knowledge requirements below. Submit a paragraph for each knowledge requirement below that demonstrates the required experience and describes competence in applying the knowledge. Education and training may be used to offset experience.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
(1) Describe your knowledge of methodologies, equipment, and technologies used in collection, consolidation, and application of geographical information.
(2) Describe your knowledge of the development and maintenance of GIS data layers, associated metadata, and the conversion of data into map displays that communicate geographic information effectively.
(3) Describe your knowledge of installing, operating, programming, maintaining, troubleshooting, and applying GIS related software and hardware, which may include Visual Basic, Python, Environmental Systems Research Institute products, Microsoft products, and other similar tools.
(4) Describe your knowledge and experience in the safe use of four-wheel drive vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, unmanned aircraft systems, and other GIS related equipment in a variety of terrain, air space, and in all types of conditions, including the knowledge and ability to self-recover from minor incidents such as a flat tire or getting stuck.
(5) Describe your knowledge of military spatial data requirements and standards; military training area operations; Idaho National Guard facilities, camps, training areas, and armories; federal and state publications that govern data collection methods; and other publications that guide, direct, or limit GIS work.
