Job description

Polaris Alpha® Advanced Systems, a Parsons Company, is seeking an amazingly talented Software Developers/Engineer whose role will be essential to the design, implementation, and delivery of high performance, secure, mission critical solutions. We seek engineers that are versatile, display leadership qualities, and are enthusiastic to tackle new challenges as we continue to provide the military with cutting edge tools. For this position, the Software Engineer will analyze, design, and implement advanced capabilities for armament systems at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. The role includes design and implementation of decision aid software modules for new tactical fire control systems, with strong consideration for interoperability and software architecture openness.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design and development of software modules for U.S. Army tactical fire control systems in an Agile development environment
  • Requirements analysis and traceability
  • Authoring design, interface, and user documentation
  • Software configuration management using Git or similar tools
  • Support periodic design reviews
  • Support Agile sprint planning activities
  • Support demonstrations, exhibitions, and test events

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering
  • Experience developing in one or more of (in priority order):
  • Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK)
  • Android
  • Java, Kotlin and/or comparable languages
  • Technical leadership experience
  • Experience in software architectures and integration
  • Experience in algorithm development
  • Experience with Development, Build and Configuration tools for example the Atlassian toolset (e.g., Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Confluence)
  • Excellent organizational, communications, problem-solving and people skills, be a self-starter, and enjoy being part of and contributing to a hard-working team
  • Must have the ability to quickly learn and creatively leverage new technologies
  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to travel. Anticipated travel level 5%-10%.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Software development lifecycle experience (SDLC), especially within the DoD
  • Familiarity with tactical networks
  • Experience in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) control including multi-UAS and counter-UAS
  • Experience developing in and deploying to Android and Linux environments
  • Experience with Government standards and procedures
  • Understanding of, and experience working within, the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience with or knowledge of U.S. Army tactical fire control systems
  • Experience/familiarity with Mounted Mission Command (MMC)

Salary Range: $103,500.00 - $181,100.00
