Job description

The Industrial IT/OT Systems Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the availability, reliability, and security of industrial software systems used in terminal operations, material handling, and production visibility. This position supports industrial application infrastructure, user access, system health monitoring, incident response, and related documentation in a heavy industrial environment.

Essential Functions

  1. (Duties may not include all duties listed below, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)

  2. Provides operational support for industrial software platforms, HMI clients, operations dashboards, and related terminal systems.

  3. Supports Windows-based industrial client systems used for machine, production, and terminal operations.

  4. Responds to production-impacting system incidents, performs initial troubleshooting, and escalates issues as needed.

  5. Administers user access, permissions, security groups, and role-based access for industrial applications and related systems.

  6. Supports alignment between Active Directory, Windows security groups, and industrial application security requirements.

  7. Supports remote and published application access platforms, including application publishing, RDS resources, basic configuration, and troubleshooting.

  8. Coordinates with Port IT, Operations, Maintenance, Controls Engineering, vendors, and other support teams to resolve system issues and support reliable operations.

  9. Monitors industrial system health, availability, performance, alerts, and abnormal conditions using approved monitoring tools.

  10. Supports planned maintenance activities, system upgrades, patching, version tracking, and lifecycle documentation for industrial systems.

  11. Maintains system documentation, procedures, access records, recovery information, and support documentation.

  12. Follows safety, change management, permit-to-work, and operational procedures when supporting production systems., * Describe your experience supporting Industrial IT/OT systems (such as manufacturing, terminals, PLCs, SCADA, HMI, or industrial automation). Please include the types of systems you have supported. * What experience do you have administering Windows Server, Active Directory, user accounts, security groups, and role-based access permissions? Please provide specific examples. * Describe a production-critical technical issue you diagnosed and resolved. What was the problem, what troubleshooting steps did you take, and what was the outcome? * This position supports industrial operations and may require occasional after-hours work and responding to critical system outages. Are you able to participate in an on-call rotation and work outside normal business hours when necessary?

Requirements

High school diploma or GED

Information technology, engineering technology, industrial technology, computer systems, or related technical field

Experience

3 years

Industrial IT/OT systems, Windows systems support, industrial applications, user access management, or related experience

Substitutions allowed for Experience: Indicated experience is required; no substitutions allowed.

Minimum Required Knowledge:

· Knowledge of industrial IT/OT systems used in manufacturing, terminal, mining, material handling, or heavy industrial environments.

· Knowledge of Windows Server and Windows 10/11 systems.

· Knowledge of user access management, role-based security, security groups, and system permissions.

· Ability to support systems in a production-critical environment.

· Ability to troubleshoot system issues, respond to incidents, and escalate problems appropriately.

· Knowledge of industrial software platforms, HMI systems, application publishing, monitoring tools, or related technologies.

· Ability to communicate clearly with Operations, Maintenance, Controls Engineering, IT, vendors, and other stakeholders.

· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and organizational skills.

· Ability to remain calm and effective during production-impacting incidents.

· Ability to work safely in an active industrial terminal environment.

Certification or Licensure Requirements

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to obtain TWIC.

Physical Requirements/ADA

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Work may require occasional exposure to industrial, outdoor, marine terminal, and material handling environments. Participation in an on-call rotation and occasional after-hours, weekend, or outage-related work may be required.
