Job description

  • building and maintaining components of ING’s Data Analytics Platform on Google Cloud;
  • developing Golang-based infrastructure automation services and platform tooling;
  • preparing cloud-ready and IaC-based solutions using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines;
  • supporting platform tenants and helping them onboard smoothly;
  • maintaining and improving key platform components;
  • contributing to platform architecture, standards and engineering practices;
  • implementing and improving monitoring, logging and alerting for platform services;
  • supporting operational stability, including participation in on-call support where applicable;
  • collaborating with stakeholders, data engineers, data scientists and platform users to deliver scalable, secure and cost-efficient cloud solutions., As a GCP Platform Engineer, you will join a distributed, multinational and multicultural team delivering scalable, secure and automated cloud solutions that enable data-driven products across ING.

The platform supports teams working with large amounts of data and modern analytics workloads. Our goal is to make cloud platform capabilities reliable, reusable and increasingly self-service for ING tenants.

You will work with modern cloud technologies, contribute to platform automation, and help develop the engineering foundations that allow ING to become even more data-driven.

The role naming convention in the global ING job architecture will be “Engineer IV”

The financial ranges specified in the announcement are adjusted and may differ from the range specified in the remuneration regulations.

Requirements

  • have 3+ years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), preferably in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps-oriented roles;
  • have practical experience building or maintaining platforms on GCP using managed services such as Cloud Run, GKE, BigQuery, Dataproc, Vertex AI, GCS or similar;
  • have hands-on experience with Golang - this is a must-have - and can describe concrete examples such as CLI tools, microservices, automation services, provisioning tools, APIs, integrations, or concurrency-based implementations;
  • have an Infrastructure as Code mindset and practical experience with Terraform;
  • have experience with deployment and provisioning automation, including tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines;
  • have hands-on experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, observability and basic production troubleshooting;

You’ll get extra points for:

  • experience with secure authentication and encrypted workloads, such as OIDC, KMS, SSL/TLS;
  • experience with distributed systems or large-scale data processing on GCP;
  • experience supporting internal platform users or tenants.
