Job description

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) has an immediate opening at its Dayton, Ohio office for a Design Engineer to support its industrial mixing equipment product lines. The Dayton officer is the design center for NOV’s Chemineer rotating mixers and Prochem belt driven mixers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design and detailing of mixing products with emphasis on customer needs, quality, budget, safety and on-time delivery., * Interpreting customer supplied drawings to define customer needs

  • Performing calculations to ensure designs are of the highest quality and longest life
  • Creating parts, assemblies and drawings using Solidworks 3D CAD software
  • Creating part numbers and bills of material in Teamcenter product lifecycle management software
  • Working with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to ensure designs are in line with factory capabilities and core competencies
  • Providing engineering support to machinists and assemblers on the shop floor
  • Executing engineering changes to legacy products
  • Domestic and international travel may be required

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree
  • Experience with the selection and implementation of power transmission components in machine design
  • Experience designing industrial machinery (rotating equipment a plus)
  • Proficiency using Solidworks 3D CAD software
  • Familiarity with EPDM Product Data Management software
  • A working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience creating part numbers and bills of material
