Job description

Provide Service Desk, On-Site and Customer Rekey services. Accomplish Facility Operations to Operate and Maintain the DRSN switch and peripheral equipment. Maybe required to work rotating shifts and perform standby responsibilities with the ability to respond in two hours. Perform other duties as required. It’s important to note that this Position is a Local National position in Germany. As such the employee will be subject to paying German taxes and be part of the German work force with all the benefits of HN employment and social system (not SOFA/TESA eligible). This Position is located in Vaihingen, Germany Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain the Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) facility to provide direct command and control, instant telephonic communication capability at TopSecret/SCI classification level in support of defense missions to U.S. European Command, AFRICOM, and USAREUR. This is accomplished by performing Service Desk Support to all subscribers, on-site support to subscribers in the Stuttgart military community, Customer COMSEC Re-key for specified subscribers and DRSN Facility O&M Operations.
  • Operation and Maintenance of the DSS-2A Switch, Switch peripherals, Cryptographic and Promina equipment
  • Maintain systems, circuits and networks at Unit and Direct Support levels.
  • Perform circuit implementation.
  • Remedy (NSS) trouble ticketing system and INMS management tools.
  • Ability to present a professional impression, both telephonically and in-person
  • Be willing and able to deal with a high stress environment.

Requirements

Do you have experience in TCP/IP?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, + An Associate degree in one of the following disciplines: + o Electronics/Electrical Engineering; Information Systems; Computer Science or other related scientific or technical discipline.

  • In the absence of an Associate degree: + o a High School diploma or equivalent, with an additional two years of the experience specified below. o # Certification of completion of an applicable US military or civilian technical school in Telecommunication or Information systems # DSS-2A and current Security+ certifications.

  • Experience: *

  • Five years specialized, continuous experience in the field of Telecommunications including current experience with the following equipment: + o digital switches, multiplexers, routers, COMSEC devices, modems and test equipment for data transmission testing (Firebird6000 or equivalent). o Shall be able to maintain systems, circuits and networks at Unit and Direct support level and within DISA standards; process Technical Service Orders (TCO); maintain user data bases and accomplish circuit implementation; utilize Remedy (NSS) trouble ticketing system and INMS management tools, including timely system/ circuit restoration in the event of failure. o DRSN experience required; DSN, IDNX, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, or ATM systems a plus. o Operations and Maintenance (O&M) on the switch and peripherals, including Cryptographic and IDNX equipment; maintain systems, circuits and networks at Unit and Direct support levels. o Shall be fully cognizant with DoD security programs and be able to implement and maintain proper operation practices involving accountability and handling of COMSEC, classified material and other sensitive property and information. Knowledge of requirements and experience working in a SCIF environment, + Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English to include the ability to comprehend and interpret complex technical data.

  • Possess a valid driver license and be able to qualify for and operate Government provided light vehicles.
  • Maintain the right to access applicable military bases (possession of an Installation Pass or U.S. Military ID card) and work legally in Germany as a Local National (work permit or U.S. Military ID card).
  • This is a shift-worker Position
