Senior Desktop Intelligence Investigator

If your typical investigation consists of reviewing a few databases, locating obvious social media accounts, and writing a report, this position is likely not the right fit.

Our investigators do not rely on automated social media search tools or algorithm-driven platforms. Every investigation is conducted through independent, manual research using critical thinking, sound investigative techniques, and a commitment to pursuing every reasonable lead. Every investigation begins with the available facts, but our investigators are expected to continually develop new investigative leads through independent research and analysis.

We are seeking a proven investigator who naturally thinks several steps ahead, develops investigative leads, correlates information from multiple sources, and produces a complete investigative picture.

Our most successful investigators continually ask themselves, “What else does this lead tell me?”

We are not looking for someone who simply finds information-we are looking for someone who understands what the information means, where it leads next, and how it strengthens the overall investigation.

Success in this position is measured by the quality, thoroughness, analytical value, and timeliness of each investigation. Successful investigators are naturally curious, analytical, and resourceful. They think beyond the obvious, independently recognize investigative opportunities, recognize when additional research is warranted, and take pride in producing thorough, accurate work that meets KeySource’s exceptionally high investigative standards., Conduct comprehensive digital intelligence, OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence), and social media investigations.

Conduct comprehensive background investigations, medical canvasses, skip traces, and asset research.

Analyze, correlate, and interpret information obtained from public records, court records, corporate filings, property records, licensing records, and other investigative resources.

Independently identify, develop, and pursue investigative leads.

Prepare detailed, accurate, well-organized investigative reports suitable for review by insurance professionals, attorneys, and courts.

Prioritize multiple assignments while meeting established turnaround times.

Maintain compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Maintain proficiency in evolving investigative technologies, research methodologies, and information resources through ongoing training and professional development., Availability is required Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend and evening availability needed for rush deadlines.

Applicants should expect to spend the majority of their day conducting independent online research, analyzing information from multiple sources, and preparing detailed investigative reports.

Applicants selected for an interview will be required to provide copies of their current Private Investigator’s license(s).

• During an investigation, how do you decide when you’ve done enough research and it’s time to stop?
• Describe a time when one small piece of information completely changed the direction of your investigation.
• You identify a Subject’s spouse during a social media investigation. Walk us through everything you would research next and explain why.
• Tell us about a report you submitted that you later realized could have been better. What did you miss?
• Tell us about an investigation where there were very few obvious leads. How did you develop additional investigative leads?
• In 750 words or less, describe exactly how you would conduct a social media and digital intelligence investigation on a workers’ compensation claimant when all you have is their name, city, and date of birth. Do not list databases. Explain your investigative thought process and how you develop additional investigative leads.
• Which investigative resource do you think is most underutilized by investigators, and why?
• In which state(s) have you held a private investigator’s license? Please provide the state(s), and expiration date(s).

Active Private Investigator (PI) license in either Florida, Maryland, or Pennsylvania

Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to independently identify investigative opportunities rather than simply compile search results.

Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex research problems using multiple public and proprietary information sources.

Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.

Must have a private, distraction-free workspace with reliable high-speed internet and the ability to conduct confidential investigative work without interruptions during scheduled work hours.

Exceptional report-writing skills with strong grammar, spelling, punctuation, and attention to detail.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

Extensive experience conducting comprehensive desktop investigations for the insurance defense industry, including court records research, FOIA and state/local public records requests, medical canvasses, social media and digital intelligence investigations, background investigations, asset research, business and corporate records research, property records research, professional license verification, skip tracing, and identifying, developing, and pursuing investigative leads through multiple public and proprietary sources.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, including the ability to produce professional investigative reports and organize investigative findings efficiently.
