Job description

You’ll be joining a globally recognised financial services organisation undertaking a major transformation of its core platform infrastructure. The team is responsible for building and operating a large-scale private cloud platform that underpins critical business services, with a strong focus on automation, reliability, security and platform engineering best practices.

This is a highly technical engineering environment where teams own the full lifecycle of the platforms they build, from design and implementation through to operational support.

Your new role As a Platform Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the design, build, automation and operation of an enterprise-scale on-premise Kubernetes platform based on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP).

This is not an application-focused Kubernetes role. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the underlying infrastructure and platform components required to run and support a production Kubernetes estate. You’ll work across compute, networking, storage, security and platform tooling to deliver a highly automated and resilient environment for engineering teams across the organisation.

Requirements

  • 5-10+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Engineering or DevOps
  • Strong background in infrastructure, including systems, networking or storage
  • Proven experience building and operating Kubernetes platforms within on-premise environments
  • Experience running Kubernetes infrastructure rather than simply deploying applications into Kubernetes
  • Strong Linux administration skills, ideally within Red Hat environments
  • Experience implementing automation, CI/CD and GitOps workflows
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Engineering-first mindset with a hands-on approach
  • Naturally inquisitive and capable of working across multiple technology domains

Benefits & conditions

  • £800 per day (Inside IR35)
  • Initial 6-month contract with strong extension potential
  • Hybrid working from London
  • Opportunity to work on one of the organisation’s strategic platform initiatives
  • Exposure to large-scale Kubernetes and OpenShift environments
  • Collaborative engineering culture with significant platform ownership and autonomy
