We are a MSP seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Windows System Administrator to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our many clients’ enterprise Windows-based infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support Windows operating systems, including installation, configuration, patching, and ongoing maintenance to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Oversee system architecture design, including storage management, server backup and recovery processes, and virtualization using VMware or Hyper-V platforms.
  • Implement automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages to streamline system administration tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Maintain Active Directory environments by managing user accounts, group policies, permissions, and security protocols.
  • Monitor system performance through tuning activities such as load balancing, performance tuning, and capacity planning to prevent downtime.
  • Conduct technical troubleshooting support for hardware, software, network issues, firewalls, VPNs, DNS configurations, and other infrastructure components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on solution architecture projects involving cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, container orchestration with Kubernetes, and microservices deployment.
  • Ensure information security compliance by managing firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption protocols, and implementing best practices for data protection.
  • Support the integration of third-party solutions such as Pegasystems or other enterprise software into existing infrastructure.
  • Participate in SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) processes for deploying new systems or updates using CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins or Git.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in system administration with a focus on Windows Server environments (including Windows Server 2016/2019/2022).
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems including virtualization technologies like VMware ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Hands-on experience with RAID controllers, server storage management, and system tuning techniques to optimize performance.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Shell Scripting or Python for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with databases like SQL Server (Microsoft SQL), MySQL, PostgreSQL or Oracle; including configuration management and backup strategies.
  • Deep understanding of computer networking concepts such as DHCP, DNS, VPNs, load balancing solutions, firewalls, RESTful APIs, REST architecture style for web services.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills combined with excellent communication abilities to support technical support initiatives effectively.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Fundamentals or equivalent are preferred.
