Job description
As a Systems Engineer, your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:
- Lead systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, functional analysis, system architecture development, design solution formulation, systems analysis, and configuration management.
- Apply systems engineering principles to translate operational and mission requirements into system performance specifications and technical solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and manage systems engineering documentation, processes, procedures, and milestone schedules.
- Support all phases of the DoD acquisition lifecycle while ensuring compliance with Systems Engineering Management Process (SEMP) requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise on assigned programs with minimal government oversight.
- Translate military operational requirements into practical system concepts and engineering solutions.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including system specifications, interface requirements, engineering drawings, and engineering change documentation.
- Participate in program reviews, design reviews, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and post-award technical activities.
- Evaluate engineering designs to ensure proper integration across engineering disciplines and recommend additional technical expertise when needed.
- Review test plans, test procedures, test reports, and failure analyses for technical adequacy.
- Assess system performance against requirements and evaluate operational risks associated with meeting mission objectives.
- Develop engineering change proposals, waivers, deviations, and support physical and functional configuration audits.
- Review program management documentation to ensure technical accuracy and completeness.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and systems engineering expertise to project teams.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience,
- OR Master’s degree in Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Active Secret security clearance required to start.
- Demonstrated expertise in Systems Engineering supporting complex DoD acquisition programs.
- Extensive knowledge of the Systems Engineering Management Process (SEMP), DoD Systems Engineering policies, Integrated Product and Process Development (IPPD), and Integrated Product Team (IPT) management.
- Experience translating military operational requirements into engineering solutions.
- Experience leading engineering efforts with minimal government oversight.
- Strong technical leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills., * Master’s degree in Systems Engineering or Systems Management with more than 20 years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. in Engineering with more than 15 years of relevant experience.
- Recognized subject matter expert within the Systems Engineering community.
- Experience serving as a technical consultant and mentoring engineering teams.
- Experience developing innovative systems engineering strategies and improving engineering processes.
- Ability to identify technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and brief senior leadership on recommended courses of action.
