Job description

The IT Field Systems Engineer is a highly customer-focused and technically skilled systems administrator, responsible for managing and nurturing client relationships, delivering exceptional (hands-on) technical support, driving sales opportunities, and overseeing project execution to ensure successful outcomes. The engineer will collaborate closely with clients to understand their needs and challenges, help them optimize their IT and cybersecurity infrastructure, and deliver tailored solutions that meet business objectives. The engineer will also be on call as needed for urgent technical support and incident management., * Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for complex technical issues.

  • Support Microsoft-related technologies, including Windows Server, Office 365/Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, etc.
  • Manage and maintain virtual environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Design, implement, and support cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Implement and support backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Configure, install, and maintain network devices and services (e.g., routers, servers, firewalls, WAN/LAN connectivity, access points, etc.)
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and IT personnel to resolve issues.
  • Effectively communicate with clients regarding ticket progress, changes, and outages
  • Maintain detailed documentation of client systems and configurations.
  • Enter time, expenses, and work as service tickets in AutoTask.

Requirements

Must have Managed Services Provider experience. Networking experience is necessary.

Experience with any of the following is excellent: HIPAA, CMMC, NERC CIP, PCI, HITRUST, SOC2, CIS CSF, NIST CSF, 800-171, 800-53, * Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • 10-15+ years of experience in the IT field. Experience in a client-facing technical role, such as Technical Account Manager, Solutions Engineer, or IT/Network Support.
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft technologies, cloud platforms, and networking
  • Experience with, but not limited to SonicWall, FortiNet, PaloAlto, AutoTask, Kaseya (AutoTask, RockeyCyber, Datto RMM, Datto BCDR, IT Glue), Office 365, Tenable Nessus, SentinelOne, Security Awareness Platforms and XONA.
  • Strong knowledge of managed IT services, networking, endpoint security, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in project management, including managing cross-functional teams, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide solutions under pressure.
  • Dedication to providing exceptional customer service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

It will include 25% travel to clients in PA, WV, VA, and OH. The role will be primarily working in the Power Generation industry.
