Job description

In this hands-on technical role, you will be the primary builder during the implementation phase of the client lifecycle, responsible for constructing and deploying complex data integrations. Moving beyond standard out-of-the-box setups, you will write the code and configure the pipelines needed to modernize Alternative Investment workflows for our clients.

Working directly with client technical teams and data engineers, you will map data flows, consult client’s robust API builds, and configure scalable solutions using Canoe’s technology. By leveraging your expertise in Python, YAML, and Snowflake, alongside deep domain knowledge, you will actively build the reporting infrastructure that makes Canoe a seamless component of our clients’ technology stacks.

What You’ll Do:

  • Integration Development & Execution: Build, test, and deploy robust data pipelines between Canoe and client systems. Write the scripts and configure the API connectivity, SFTP transfers, and data normalization processes required to ensure high-fidelity data flow.
  • Technical Implementation: Dive into client data ecosystems to identify specific integration points. Execute the necessary configurations and write custom integration code to connect systems and maximize automation.
  • Technical Documentation: Produce clear and practical documentation, including data flow diagrams, API usage examples, and runbooks that equips client IT teams to run and maintain their integrations post-launch.
  • Client Engineering Collaboration: Work directly with client-side developers, data engineers, and technical leads to execute the implementation. Troubleshoot issues in real-time, explain technical setups clearly, and ensure clients are properly utilizing Canoe’s API.
  • Automation & Tooling: Write reusable code and integration scripts to automate manual onboarding tasks. Continuously improve internal tooling and deployment methodologies to speed up implementation times for future clients.

Requirements

Do you have experience in YAML?, * Experience: 2+ years in a Technical Implementation, Integration Engineering, or Data Engineering role within a SaaS or data-driven environment. Proven hands-on experience building custom integrations and working with complex data sets.

  • Technical Expertise (Data & Scripting): Strong proficiency in Python, Snowflake, and YAML is required for hands-on data manipulation, pipeline building, and validation. Deep experience with API integration tools (Postman, REST) and working within data warehousing environments (e.g., Snowflake).
  • Technical Communication: Strong ability to collaborate with client-side technical teams (Developers, Data Engineers). You must be able to translate requirements into actionable code and explain your technical setups clearly.
  • Domain Knowledge (Private Equity): Familiarity with private equity-specific financial reporting systems (e.g., Addepar, Black Diamond, or similar platforms) used for fund accounting, portfolio management, and investor reporting.
  • Problem-Solving: A builder’s mindset with the ability to spot manual bottlenecks and write scalable, automated scripts to solve them.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working alongside Sales, Product, and Project Management teams to deliver functional technical solutions on time.

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on experience pushing data into data lakes or centralized reporting repositories.
  • Knowledge of Private Equity Investment Data.
  • Familiarity with asset-level data (e.g., FMV, performance metrics, cash flows, etc.).
