Job description

Could you be the full-time Software Development Engineer for Perception program in Villeurbanne (69 - France) we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your software development expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside a young, multidisciplinary, and motivated team.

You’ll help shape the future of mobility by developing perception solutions for the railway domain, from driver assistance to full train autonomy. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (system architects, validation and verification teams, software and electronics engineers, as well as installation and deployment teams), actively contributing to the definition, development, and software integration of perception systems enabling obstacle detection, environment monitoring, and situational awareness.

You’ll specifically take care of implementing advanced technological strategies for perception and developing computer vision algorithms and models to process multi-sensor data (from cameras, Lidars, Radars, etc.), but also contribute to the deployment of perception solutions for customers, including interface design and integration into the client’s operational context.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Developing advanced algorithms for perception, including computer vision and 3D modeling, to interpret multi-sensor data.
  • Building tools for installation, calibration, configuration, testing, and commissioning of perception solutions.
  • Customizing and qualifying generic perception solutions for specific projects or rolling stock types (e.g., tramways, locomotives, regionals…).
  • Ensuring the deployment of perception solutions, including interface design and digital mapping for rail lines or networks.
  • Collaborating closely with validation teams for project-specific solution implementation.
  • Adhering to best practices in testing, quality assurance, and cybersecurity.
  • Promoting Alstom’s Code of Ethics and maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering or a master’s degree with significant experience in software development.
  • Experience in designing and developing perception solutions (e.g., computer vision, LiDAR) for embedded applications, with knowledge of related techniques (e.g., image or point cloud analysis, filtering, feature extraction, clustering, segmentation, classification, and optimization).
  • Integrate and optimize perception algorithms in partnership with research organizations.
  • Solid knowledge of C++ and Python software development; familiarity with ROS2 and CI/CD development approaches is a plus.
  • Skills in Artificial Intelligence applied to perception (an asset).
  • Experience in software optimization, inference techniques for computer vision, or formal computation (an asset).
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and uncertain environment, within an international context.
  • Strong teamwork skills, customer-oriented mindset, and attention to detail.
  • Fluent in French and English, German would be a plus.

Benefits & conditions

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey - the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines.
  • Work with experts in engineering, software, and mobility in a stimulating international environment.
  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues.
  • Contribute to innovative and impactful projects aligned with the path toward autonomous trains.
  • Utilise our agile and collaborative working environment.
  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose.
  • Progress towards leadership roles or technical expertise.

Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage.

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
