Job description

The On-Site IT Specialist provides Tier 1 technical support for employees and assists in the administration of the organization’s technological environment. This role supports end-user devices, connectivity, Microsoft 365 applications, basic server virtualization tasks, and selected business systems. The IT Specialist works closely with the organization’s Managed Service Provider MSP by handling local support needs, performing initial troubleshooting, and escalating higher level issues appropriately., Assist with providing Systems Administration, including maintaining user group accounts, user configuration, troubleshooting access problems and completion of onsite documentation.

End-User Support & Service Delivery

  • Provide responsive Tier 1 technical support in person, phone, and remote.
  • Manage tickets through the company’s workflow, Microsoft Lists, Power Automate, intake, triage, troubleshooting, documentation, and closure.
  • Install, configure, and support desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices.
  • Assist with device deployment, Intune MDM enrollment, patching, and policy compliance.
  • Support Microsoft 365 tools: Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Office applications.
  • Support meeting room technology including conference displays, cameras, microphones, and presentation systems.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, configurations, and knowledge base articles.
  • Track and update hardware, software inventory, warranty status, and lifecycle planning.
  • Assist with procurement tasks including quotes, ordering, receiving, and staging devices.
  • Assist with tracking software licenses, subscriptions, and Microsoft 365 licensing assignments.
  • Help plan and schedule preventive maintenance and onsite vendor, MSP support.
  • Prepare basic time estimates, project updates, and communicate risks or dependencies.
  • Provide operational updates during regular department meetings.
  • Participate in scheduled after hours phone on-site support for urgent issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned., * Assist with user account administration in Microsoft 365 Entra ID account creation, groups, permissions, MFA issues. Perform routine server-virtual environment tasks such as monitoring, basic maintenance, and assisting in MSP led upgrades. Work with the MSP and backup vendor to review backup status reports and support restore requests. Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi issues, perform physical checks, replace endpoints, and verify cabling-power. Serve as the on-site first responder for connectivity issues affecting guests or operational teams. Support VoIP systems, e.g., Avaya IP Office, including extension changes, phone setup, and basic diagnostics. Coordinate on-site work with telecom vendors, ISPs, and MSP field technicians. Business Applications Data & Automation. Provide basic support for selected business systems and help departments translate workflow issues into practical technical solutions. Assist with monitoring, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination for the Property Management System PMS, and integrated systems, telephony, credit card terminals, lock systems, website interfaces. Support basic time clock and timekeeping device connectivity in coordination with HR-Engineering. Maintain familiarity with reporting tools such as SSRS until legacy systems are upgraded. Support the safe adoption of Power Platform tools, Power BI, Power Automate, maintaining simple flows reports and coordinating complex work with the MSP. Security, Compliance, & Vendor Coordination Follow IT security best practices: patching, antivirus, MFA, secure configurations, and least privilege access. Escalate security concerns promptly and assist with incident response under direction of management or the MSP. Coordinate escalations with the MSP and track status through resolution. Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust to changing priorities Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Primarily on-site role in an office/hotel environment with regular employee and vendor interaction. Ability to lift and move IT equipment up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.

  • Occasional work in network/server rooms, including ladders, tools, or confined spaces as required. Certifications None required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or related field. OR equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.

  • Experience - Knowledge
  • 2-5 years of hands-on IT support experience in a business or hospitality environment
  • Strong Tier 1 troubleshooting background, with experience escalating to an MSP or internal Tier 3 team.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 11, Windows Server basics, and user account administration.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive.
  • Basic networking fundamentals, TCP, IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms, VMware preferred, hyperconverged environments a plus.
  • Basic SQL T SQL familiarity and exposure to reporting tools.
  • Exposure to Power BI and Power Automate preferred.
  • Hospitality systems experience is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications, Comp TIA A+ Network, M365 Fundamentals strongly preferred. Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, able to translate technical topics for non-technical users.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with strong documentation habits
  • Provide basic user training and guidance to reduce repeat incidents and improve adoption of Microsoft 365 tools., While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger/wrist and hand motions for typing; reach with hands and arms; see, speak and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to see differences in widths and lengths of lines such as those on graphs.
