We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Visa Software Engineer Sr Consultant Level , you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.

The Work itself:

  • Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa’s internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability
  • Collaborate multi-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings
  • Actively contribute to product quality improvements, valuable service technology, and new business flows in diverse agile squads
  • Develop robust and scalable products intended for a myriad of customers including end-user merchants, b2b, and business to government solutions.
  • Opportunities to make a difference on a global or local scale through mentorship and continued learning opportunities
  • Designing, documenting, and implementing new systems, enhancements, and modifications to existing software that aligns with design specifications, security, and Java best practices.
  • Interacting with both business and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality products and services that meet business requirements, using the latest tools and technology.
  • Delivering zero-defect code and ensuring the team’s deliverables meet or exceed business expectations. Design, implement and evolve highly scalable and fault-tolerant web based applications.
  • Identifying opportunities for product innovation and improvements to best practices, standards, and processes.
  • Contribute to efficient development process pipeline by leveraging best-in-class CI and CD tools.
  • Develop and maintain back-end services using Java and Spring Boot, design and develop test automation frameworks, maintain CI and CD pipelines, conduct performance and load testing, and write automated test cases.
  • Presenting technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms.
  • Communicating status, issues, and risks effectively and timely.
  • Contributing to the design of backend DBs and queries, API creation and consumption, and front-end UI development. Also manage backend operations and batch jobs to maintain the data. Leverage new technologies to build the next generation of Application stack.
  • Working independently to develop software that conforms to Visa’s high standards of security, quality, performance, resiliency, and compliance.

Requirements

  • You are a Java expert, and you have experience with REST APIs, JSON.
  • Solid Experience with back-end technologies such as J2EE, JDBC, JMS and frameworks like Spring or Spring Batch, Spring Boot and vertex.
  • Rich Front-End development experience with Angular and React JS, Node.JS.
  • Working experience with Kafka, Redis, Hazelcast, or NoSQL datastores is a plus.
  • Hands on experience with database technologies like MySQL, DB2, Oracle.
  • You have strong experience with Agile development incorporating Continuous
  • Integration and Continuous Delivery, utilizing technologies such as GIT, Maven, Jenkins, Chef, Sonar, JUnit.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills are required.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple competing priorities with minimal direction from management.
  • Must work well within a team in a fast-paced high-performance organization.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager. Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager., Basic Qualifications * 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications * 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD The Skills You Bring * Energy and Experience: A growth mindset that is curious and passionate about technologies and enjoys challenging projects on a global scale * Challenge the Status Quo: Comfort in pushing the boundaries, ‘hacking’ beyond traditional solutions * Language Expertise: Expertise in one or more general development languages such as Java is preferred. * Gen AI: Experience building and deploying services using AI technologies such as LangGraph, LangChain, A2A, MCP etc. * Learner: Constant drive to learn new technologies such as Angular, React, Kubernetes, Docker, etc. * Partnership: Experience collaborating with Product, Test, Dev-ops, and Agile/Scrum teams * Collaborative Leadership: Lead and collaborate with stakeholders (e.g., product owners, project managers, technical leads, architects) to define project requirements, leveraging an understanding of tradeoffs and project costs. * Design and Architecture: Translate functional and non-functional requirements into system designs, ensuring components interact seamlessly across teams. Lead architecture discussions and refine design documents to meet non-functional requirements. * Code Development and Reviews: Independently design and develop products, lead code reviews, and ensure adherence to coding standards. Provide guidance to team members and share best practices. * Testing and Quality Assurance: Create and review complex test plans, identify test gaps, and ensure efficient execution of quality assurance testing. Proactively predict and address defects in software code. * Tool Enhancement and Automation: Lead efforts to enhance, reuse, and identify new developer tools. Propose and implement automation to improve system and tool efficiency. * Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Stay abreast of new trends and technologies, mentor other engineers, and share knowledge to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance. * Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with product engineering teams and product owners through code/design reviews, regular meetings, and participation in on-call rotations and incident responses.
