Job description

TSPi is seeking a skilled AWS QuickSight BI Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable business intelligence and reporting solutions for enterprise customers. The selected candidate will translate reporting requirements into interactive dashboards, curated datasets, reusable reporting components, and governed analytics solutions within the AWS environment. This role requires hands-on expertise in Amazon QuickSight, SQL, data modeling, and AWS analytics services, along with the ability to enable self-service reporting, improve reporting efficiency, and optimize performance and cost. The developer will collaborate with business users, product owners, data engineers, and technical teams to deliver secure, high-quality, and reusable BI capabilities that support informed decision-making across the enterprise., * Design, develop, enhance, and maintain interactive dashboards, visualizations, analyses, and datasets in Amazon QuickSight.

  • Build high-performance dashboards optimized for large data volumes, usability, refresh efficiency, and operational reliability.
  • Develop and maintain curated datasets, semantic reporting layers, and reusable data models that support enterprise reporting needs.
  • Create standardized dashboard templates, QuickSight themes, KPI definitions, calculated fields, and modular reporting components for reuse across programs and business units.
  • Implement row-level security, role-based access controls, and governance controls to protect data and ensure proper user access.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
  • Enable self-service analytics by developing reusable reporting frameworks, documentation, training materials, and user guidance.
  • Integrate and optimize data sources from AWS services such as Redshift, Athena, S3, RDS, and Glue Data Catalog, and coordinate with data engineering teams to ensure data quality and availability.
  • Optimize the use of SPICE and direct query approaches to balance dashboard performance, refresh schedules, and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor and tune query and reporting performance across source systems and datasets and provide recommendations for cost-efficient reporting architectures.
  • Establish and maintain BI development standards, naming conventions, version control practices, and dashboard governance processes.
  • Support testing, defect resolution, release activities, and continuous improvement of BI products and analytics services.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools and emerging generative AI capabilities to improve dashboard development, reporting automation, documentation, and analytics delivery while following organizational security and governance standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience may be substituted where appropriate.
  • BA/BS with (5-8) years of experience, or master’s degree with 3+ years of experience, OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Typically 5-8 years of relevant experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, reporting, or data visualization for enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience developing dashboards and reporting solutions in Amazon QuickSight.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and relational/analytic data modeling.
  • Experience working with AWS analytics and data services, including several of the following: Athena, Redshift, S3, RDS, and Glue.
  • Experience developing reusable datasets, calculated fields, KPIs, reporting templates, and dashboard frameworks.
  • Knowledge of dashboard performance tuning, dataset optimization, and reporting cost-management practices.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development or analytics tools (such as Amazon Q, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, or similar) to improve productivity, troubleshoot technical issues, or accelerate business intelligence and reporting workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain public trust access for federal information systems and successfully complete a federal background check.
  • US work authorization required., * Experience implementing QuickSight templates, themes, reusable datasets, and parameterized dashboards.
  • Experience establishing BI governance standards, semantic layers, and metric definitions across multiple reporting products.
  • Familiarity with ETL and data pipeline concepts and coordination with data engineering teams.
  • Experience optimizing analytics workloads for performance and AWS cost efficiency.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise reporting environments with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Familiarity with other BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • AWS certification or other relevant cloud/data analytics certifications.
  • Experience in a client-facing consulting or federal contracting environment.
